If the hamsters were on a lightning strike then the dispute was settled quickly and amicably.

Browsing on my iPad, the forum works fine but the classifieds have gone weird for me..

Eg. Only a few examples listed for sale of cars that usually have 100+

Only 16 Defenders, I could've sworn there were dozens just the other day, it's the same for most other models too..

ETA: You can see below, it's as if the adverts have been condensed, have I missed something?

The same type of relatively brief but noticeable PH outage just happened again, this time it produced an error message:

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

Not a techie, so what's a 503?

I think I had one of those last night.
I'm so used to the site doing something like that from time to time I waited half an hour or so and it was ok

Yes that's what I've been doing, but being nearly as busy as the PH servers wink I just thought it might be something that PH HQ would want to know, and might be able to do something about.

Thanks. Not sure from this side of the internet that, on the recent occasions this has happened (previous downtime hasn't been like this) there's any particular reason for the site to be busy compared to any other time, and was curious what it might be caused by. Thanks again for the link and explanation.

I've had several errors on and off this morning, and then it went down...

A lesson on how (not) to run a busy forum methinks...

If I took that approach at work, I'd be without a job.

Our systems are expected to be up 24 x 7 no argument (with very occasional weekend downtime for updates).

So...

But this is just a car forum, don't see the big issue?

Of all the websites/forums I use this is the most unreliable. Admittedly not the end of the world but annoying nonetheless.

Yes, yes, I'm sure the paying advertisers take that view too.
