Thought I would complete it when I logged on earlier whilst watching the footy.

It's a very badly designed survey, with some very poorly thought-out questions.

I gave up half-way through when I was asked to confirm which 3 reasons (i.e. tick 3 boxes out of the 7 or 8 options) why I would not visit each specific site when looking for a new car. One of the tick-box options is 'I do not know this website' - which, for me, applied to many of the websites mentioned. How then, could I select any of the other tick-boxes if I was unaware of that website (i.e. never visited it)?

Without ticking 3 boxes against each website, you cannot progress to the next question.

It looks and reads like a survey designed by a sixth-former for a school project.

It's late - long day....

I clicked on a pop-up when I logged on to take a survey on PH Search Functionality. What happened next is as above.

Can't be arsed to re-word. Not sure why I even bothered commenting.

Perhaps I'll just settle for a cocoa, watch Liverpool complete their drubbing of Everton, then an early night.

I agree. The survey kept asking the same questions (eg. "which sites do you use") again and again as if stuck in a loop.

You also can't skip questions or give null answers. (I'm not going to answer why I don't visit a dozen different websites, half of which I haven't even heard of).

Gave up after 50% complete.

Whoever wins the prize will have earned it.

Aha but it's not a survey to 'improve the search function'.

I answered the first question about are you looking to buy a car in the next year etc... with no.

It then asked did I buy a car in the past six months. again I answered no.

That's the end of the survey and I'm not eligible for entry.

st survey.

First (major) issue - how to search only gives options like the god awful crap on PH and Autotrader now. Where is "like it used to be, before it got st and annoying?" Browse by brand / car / category. Emphasis on browse. None of this "click lots of menus and reset the all" crap.

This is PH. NO "performance" option on what you're looking for in a car. Really? No Handling part?

You also ask the same question like a million times. If I don't win, I want my 3 minutes back.

If you want to make a combo of menus and tick boxes etc, why not avoid the bit everyone hates about menus? You all seem to use the same database, and the criteris always goes manufacturer (click) <wait for ages> Model finally populates, another click, another wait etc etc.

Why not have a matrix of clickboxes? You could use the old browse format, but allow us to select e.g BMW 3 series, Audi A4, VW Passat, and Skoda subpurb. Body type estate, manual, 0-60 under 7s. Job jobbed, you have the fuzzy search the IT nerds seem so passionate about building, but the easy to navigate thing we actually all want.

It would also make the PH timewasting browse easier. Select Aston, Lambo, Ferrari, Corvette etc etc. budget under 15k. Who's feeling brave enough to take a punt at the nail? =)

Dreadful survey with nothing to do with 'search'

Asked me whether I was going to buy a car soon. Responded with a 'no' and then answered that I'd just bought one. It then proceeded to ask me questions about whether I'd be buying it on finance etc and whether I was looking for a hatchback etc

Awful. Gave up half way though as it was forcing me to give irrelevant responses.

Pity there was no way to report it as spam

Lost interest when it kept asking me the same questions but phrased slightly differently. For the nth time - I know what car I want based on brand, fuel type, etc.

Given that the search capability on pistonheads is so poor, I thought I would do the survey, having been in structured and unstructured search technology for 17 years, I may be able to contribute. Having completed it, I feel spammed.

Strikes me that the quality of the survey is about the same as the quality of search on this site. Also, the title of the invitation popup is very misleading, this is not asking questions about search, but about buying cars and where we do our research.

I lumbered my way through it, although having told it at the outset I had just bought a new car, being asked details of what I "would like" to buy over and over again was amateur at best. And who the hell designed the household questions??

I thought SurveyMonkey was a technology, not a level of competence. Poor effort, 0/10. I would suggest to maintain some level of credibility you remove it pdq and redo it with someone who has a clue about designing surveys and make the content relevant to the invitation title or vice versa.
