Thumbsnap displays portrait photos in landscape. Can this not be fixed?

I think this is to do with uploading from an apple phone. Is that what you were using?

It's down to how you are holding your iPhone when taking pictures. If you don't want them to appear sideways then you need to make sure the home button is on the right when you take the picture. If it is in any other position the picture will be sideways or upside down when loaded up

iPhone?

Me?

With my reputation?

How very DARE you?

Android...Galaxy Note 4, if you don't mind.

Top one uploaded direct from phone.

2nd and 3rd from same device, but uploaded here from a Windows PC.

What's going on? I'm sure I've uploaded in the past without this problem.

Facebook and many other sites can make it work.
It never use to be an issue.

Can't Haymarket be bothered investing in this place anymore ?
Thumbs nap isn't actually owned by HM (unless they've bought it recently) and it was nailed on as a poor stopgap a few years ago, so for once it's not their fault, although they really ought to switch it to an image host that works, like tinypic.

Its not 2007 any more!

But it did work and works on FB.
Do FB own them or do they just know how to integrate third party apps ?
It is quite simple - the product is a little bit wobbly and doesn't have any kind of support. Companies like FaceBook simply have more man power to keep on top of it.

I agree it has needed replacing for ages, but there are other things that need to take priority (especially given that it works for the majority of people).

Luckily, the project is well underway (it is part of a bigger project that covers all aspects of making it easier to post on PH) and has already been seen by members of our private "Board" forum and I believe it will be released into the "lab" forum (which any of you can access) in the next few weeks.

But back to the OP... Did you get your pictures uploaded in the end or do you still need some help? If it is the latter just email me the pictures (James.drake@haymarket.com) and I'll fix it for you.

Thanks all
JD

No, I posted some examples on this threar....up a bit, up a bit...there, see?..smile

I can faff around and get the pictures in portrait, but I was curious as to why the problem has recently crept in. It's sometimes just not worth the bother to sort it.

Agreed on that - it is properly annoying when it happens. Anyway, as mentioned earlier on in this thread the project that the dev team are currently working on will resolve this issue. Keep your eyes peeled in "the lab" forum - the work will be shred there for preview purposes before it goes live. (this should happen in the next few days I think)

What's the point of doing the work if you're going to shred it..? silly
