Are Haymarket interested in sorting out the knobheads here?

I live with three of the buggers. I love them dearly but if I didn't take the piss out of them I'd go
I do as well, and I find that if I treat them as individuals with individual minds and personalities, and not treat them as objects to be taking the piss out of, it helps. You gimp.

The apparent misogyny on here is just guys chatting as they would down the pub!
Don't forget that, in early PH days, there was an extremely low female presence. Some old timers seem to forget that!
I sincerely doubt that the majority on here would say anything like they do here in the presence of a 'lady'!
Because they're scared of them IRL!

I bet you're the life and soul of the party... All they have to do is stop providing the ammo, I don't hold out much hope.
To be fair I'm generally a piss taking, sarcastic, wker. My friends' description, not mine. But I don't discriminate about who I take the piss out of.

I used to think you were a bit of a tt, but we've taken the piss of late and I'm warming to you. I genuinely believe if we all took the piss more instead of being afraid to offend people the world would be a happier place

You're not trying to groom me again are you?I used to think you were a bit of a tt, but we've taken the piss of late and I'm warming to you. I genuinely believe if we all took the piss more instead of being afraid to offend people the world would be a happier place
I agree re the piss taking, but like most things, it's become a bit politically unacceptable. And unfortunately the piss taking comments are not always easy to distinguish from the properly nasty ones.

The pub I drink in has about 40% women at a guess - some pretty scary!Don't forget that, in early PH days, there was an extremely low female presence. Some old timers seem to forget that!

Pisstaking on a personal level, they are fine with, and will reciprocate in kind.
Blanket statements putting down women in general don't go down so well.
This thread demonstrates precisely why the mods can't "sort out the knobheads". Everyone has different views on what is acceptable and what is humourous.
If some people had their way nothing would be allowed.
Can't make jokes about women as it's sexist? What an interesting world we're going to end up in...

Who is saying you can't make jokes about women? Not me. I did not report anyone, or ask for mods to intervene. If some people had their way nothing would be allowed.

All I am saying is that some people make boorish statements about women under the guise of "humour". Am I not allowed to say I think it knobbish?

I can't remember who said it, but it illustrates my point - you (might) find it abhorrent and winstonwolf might find it hilarious; which is why the OP's wish of getting rid of the knobheads is impossible, cos who's to say who's right or wrong and thus should be 'got rid of'?All I am saying is that some people make boorish statements about women under the guise of "humour". Boorish or otherwise comments must be accepted as part of the freedom to allow people to act like knobheads if they wish. A PC culture and closing down (in my opinion however inappropriate) comments benefits noone.
A little common sense needs to be applied.
If a guy walks around in a T-Shirt inviting women to provide oral pleasure, does he deserve all he gets from a pissed-off father of a young girl ?
Or bearded ones congregating with placards declaring 'behead those who insult islam' get a bit of physical attention from patriots ?
A centre-spread stuck to a toolbox where women may see it ? A slap or a bit of verbal given in return, would that ever be fair ?
If none of the above scenarios are considered to have a fair outcome, then should the actions of the instigators be allowed to go unchallenged ?
Which is it ?

Why bring up agitators, Islam, patriotism and violence in a discussion about forum etiquette and moderation? Haven't we done Islam to death on this thread already? If a guy walks around in a T-Shirt inviting women to provide oral pleasure, does he deserve all he gets from a pissed-off father of a young girl ?

Better start another thread - "He provoked me and I hit him : is it all his fault?"
It could be an interesting thread.
Not specifically directed at T5:
I have a friend who continually moans about "PC gone mad".
He has never been censored or shut down, what he really is complaining about is that people tell him what they think about his tedious stereotyping of women/asians/teachers/greens/today's youth/etc.
No-one is stopping him saying those things, he just doesn't like people telling him he's being boring, not funny.
And yes, he's old. .
Despite that, we've been friends for over 30 years, although we do argue a lot (often about women/asians/teachers/greens/todays youth/etc.)

Haymarket. .
Saying "everyone has a different view, so let's not have any rules" is a bit like looking at a prison population and saying "everyone has a different idea about what we should be allowed to do, so let's not have any laws".
Set some rules; those who find them either too liberal or too restrictive will find somewhere else.

Quite.Let's assume your neighbour is holding a party and invites you, and whilst you're in their kitchen you decide to go off on one about whatever your particular pet hate is and they ask you to leave because they don't agree and a couple of the other guests have complained.
When you're a guest in someone else's house, "free speech" doesn't really apply.
I'm not sure why that's such a difficult concept to grasp.
