New computer and I forgot how bad the ads make this site to use.

I have to wait 30 seconds on each page for the banner adverts to load before I can access the content.

It's like back in the 1990's with dial up .....

Is this really the best you can do guys?

Try something like uBlock Origin.

I don't begrudge Pistonheads some ad revenue as I realise that the place costs money to run, but sadly I just don't think they have a grip on the content and efficiency of the ad networks they use and the ads they display.

Main menu page loads quickly, sub forums load quickly so you can scroll straight away and see the topic lists (eg: Scale models or the lounge) but once you click into an area each topic takes an age to load, 9 times out of 10 I get a "pistonheads is not responding due to a long running script" error, the page then re-loads and I sit and wait again.

I have had a loop of errors that was frankly silly, after 4 errors I gave up on that topic and tried a different one and it loaded slowly but did not put up the script message.

I often give up now and read Reddit instead, I did have a little moan about the script error a while ago but its been like it ages now. Its the Adverts so its unlikely to change.

As the man says, that link will answer your questions. Basically they're necessary and the ad ops guys don't always get it right, but we'll keep working to get them right... eventually.
