I suspect that a large amount of the sites problems are actually caused by the ads. Whenever a page hangs loading it seems to be waiting for an ad service. Dodgy re-directs - ads. Pages jumping around - ads.

Putting pressure on ad networks to sort their act out/dropping ones that are causing these issues isn't a development activity, it is a management activity.

The thing is, I actually don't have an issue with ads on websites, especially Pistonheads which gives me a large amount of entertainment for no fees. I understand that ads are part of the (unwritten) agreement.

It's simply the ones that make the site a pain to use (as these ones do) and PH's lack of enthusiasm for tackling the problem that annoys.

Jumping for me too using an iMac pro at home over the weekend, only happens when there's an animated ad. Very frustrating!!!

As a professional software tester with many years experience I would offer my services but I haven't got the time. Too much real software testing to do.

If you're using a Mac and Safari then install the 'AdBlock' and 'Ghostery' extensions which will not only get rid of all those pesky adverts but also block the unwanted trackers, I have a feeling that these extensions can also be installed on other browsers.

Or just run a Raspberry Pi, install DietPI on it and then select Pi-Hole. Blocks all ad's on all sites across all your devices. Actually makes Pistonheads more pleasurable to use and you don't have to worry about Haymarkets lackadaisical approach to ad testing or even verification.
