(ANSWERED) Daily emails stopped
Discussion
Has anybody else had the daily news email service resumed. Mine's been off for months now. I did email Matthew Bird and got this reply in September last year........
The development team have a host of issues that they are working on at any one time. The issue we are currently facing with the newsletter is ensuring the right data protection regulations are followed and incorporating the correct features into the email. I have been told this a is a process that will require a new member of staff because of the new server so it doesn't look like the daily newsletter will return all that soon. I know this is an issue because a lot of people rely on it for their PH news but the current situation can not be changed. As soon as there is any more news on emails being sent out I will inform you.............
I emailed him again on the 4th Feb to see if there was anymore news but no response. It just seems strange to me.

Hi all,
Just to add to this, what Matt Bird says is correct. However, since the newsletter has been stopped (for the reasons mentioned) we've seen absolutely no drop off in our web traffic... so in other words, we were spending time and money on sending daily emails that had little to no impact on driving traffic to our site. (which after all was the entire point of the email)
Perhaps people have been forced to visit the site without the daily email prompting them, but being completely honest from a business efficiency perspective this is preferable even though it might not be as convenient for users as they adapt to not having the email to make life easier for them.
However, despite all of this we are investigating the possibility of starting the daily emails again, but we need to find a way to make this quick and easy to do, as well as providing a return on our investment in sending them. In the meantime, we have however introduced a few weekly emails that may act as a suitable replacement for many of you. The first is our "Speed Matters" one, which provides a weekly roundup of all the most popular editorial stories from the last seven days. The second is our new "Hot Topics" email, which highlights the most discussed / popular / amusing topics from the forums from the week.
If you'd like to receive these emails, have a look here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Thanks
