I'm doing Anglesey next Saturday and if its anything like today the weather will be miserable.
I'm only on my roadbike GSXR750 and its only my second TD so in novices. I'll be riding there - 50 miles.
What do people do to stay warm and dry?
Thinking thermals under my leathers and a huge fluoro coat over them for the journey over and when stood around. Its the only thing I've got that will fit
Small rucksack with drinks and snacks and dry socks.
Anything else?

Book trackdays later in the year wink

A spare pair of gloves would help as wet cold hands don't help control inputs.

I did one at Oulton this time last year and it was -2 when I set off and still 0 with frost on the track when we got out. Honestly out on track I was plenty warm enough. In between was fking freezing though!

Just curious. Why would you? Mate's out motocross tomorrow and I asked him how he could be bothered, but then that's £30, local, and you'll get dirty whatever. But trackdays, who the hell wants to go out when it's under 15 degrees and you probably have to put in a fair bit of effort to get there?

I'm not that fussed about it being perfect conditions, I just enjoy riding my bike. It was actually a great day as there weren't many people there. In the last session there were 3 people including me on track and it was a dry day all day. I'm not so keen on warm/hot track days as I just spend all day sweating like mad.

Base layers. Latex gloves under your main gloves.

It's Anglesey, it'll be fking freezing.
I can
It's super grippy come rain or shine, wrap up warm and enjoy, there's a few racers I know going for a shakedown.

If it looks like it's going to be a cold one, I always wear a waterproof jacket over my leathers to keep the wind out
I'm a wimp with the cold though, and tend to do this for the morning sessions right up to around may smile

Low temperatures can give lower grip than rain, I would be really gentle warming the tyres up

I remember doing a trackday at Brands a good few years ago in February

The start was delayed as the circuit organisers decided to put all the service vehicles on the track for 20 mins to help thaw the frost out. The tyres didn't warm up all day

2000 plum pudding at mallory (Boxing Day), you could barely get the bike to scrutineering for the ice in the paddock, there was an ice patch halfway around Gerrards that you slid across!
Mistake people often make is on tyre pressures, run MORE PSI than your normal track pressures because the tyre runs so much cooler.

Was very much the same last weekend at Brands. And whoever also said that lower temps = less grip than rain, yep, I can attest to that. Portimao last year in the wet but warm had loads of grip despite limited talent; ran out of both at the weekend however frown

I nearly went but glad I decided against it. People seem to forget the temp after a few laps, go hell for leather and then bin it. It's all well and good as long as you don't push it too much. All season road tyres/wets are probably still the best things for the job.

John (CurlieJohn), I,m being serious now, if there's any remote chance of you just staying on the outer perimeter of the track on Weds 22nd and maybe not making eye contact with any of us, well that would be just great ! Cheers.

I'm going to wear a blindfold until I get in the pit lane to avoid the bad luck eye contact smile
