Hi Gang,

First off, I live in a northern country where we basically have 6months of the white stuff on the ground and usually we've done our European road trips during the summer months, when it is easy for us to drive to different countries. We do one big tour every year, been to most of the European countries with our car club and it's been just the best time every time. So, now started putting together plans to get few cars on a car transporting lorry and get it to drive them to Southern parts of France. We already have the transportation for our cars sorted, so now we can start focusing on the actual route planning.

The cars will be dropped off at Biarritz, France. We have direct flights to Biarritz during the winter months so, thinking about flying in a day early so we can check out the town and be ready when the cars show up. After we are reunited with the cars we a thinking about heading to Venice, Italy. We are thinking about spending 7 days on the road, which should be plenty to keep the daily dose of driving to doable and nice so we can reach our daily destinations early to explore where ever we might be that day. I've done few trips in the region, but always during the summer months.

My question is what kind of route would you suggest, what sites to see, where to stay, what places to avoid. Would you do a de-tour to Spain, Barcelona maybe? Andorra perhaps? Or would you stay in France and go through Toulouse? What then, Marseille? Aix-en-provance? Stay along the coast? Riviera or more inland? St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Monaco is a must, since there are couple of guys coming along, who have never been to the French Riviera. Anything specific to see or do in those places or within short driving distance? What about Italy? After San Remo, would you head up to Milan and maybe the Como/Garda lake region or would you stay on the Italian Riviera and go to Portofino? What then? Verona? Tuscany? Modena?

All our cars are very low and rwd, so we try to avoid snowy attractions (main reason we are doing this in the first place wink).

All the good ideas will be added to our trip.

Thanks in advance.
