And you're not offering a broad enough selection of fonts.
You should at least have Helvetica in there.
I selected site at random (one that just happened to be open in my browser) and:
font-family: apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, "Apple Color Emoji", "Segoe UI Emoji", "Segoe UI Symbol";
You do realise there are other operating systems out there?
Not all operating systems have common fonts - this is why you need to declare additional fonts - otherwise any attempt at making your site render correctly fails...
That's what the sans-serif declaration is for (which may well get you Helvetica on Macs). You specify the font(s) you design for and a generic fallback that will work everywhere, there's no need to set some pick and mix list of various fonts to design for that may or may not be available.
font-family: Verdana, "Verdana", sans-serif;

Websites not so much at random:

That said, Verdana is an odd choice to design for in 2017. Probably the least of this skin's worries though with the apparently entirely different design depending on the browser window width. I can only conclude PH is doing a Gerald Ratner, completely destroyed his business.

Take a look here: http://www.mezzoblue.com/zengarden/alldesigns/
It's exactly the same web page "styled" by a multitude of professional designers (what PH needs)
I dont see anything to write home about there - style over contentIt's exactly the same web page "styled" by a multitude of professional designers (what PH needs)
At least with PH you know theres more content than style

Done, thanks, But as I understand it the option will be taken away from us soon and we will be forced to use GTI unless we decide to go elsewhere ?
Yep, having read the OP it would seem Classic will be no more once going over to HTTPS.Just to add something constructive in case any of the PH decision makers are able to read this through the tears of laughter. The GTI skin is st and whoever decided to make it default needs to go sit in the corner and have a word with themselves.
Why GTI as the only possible skin and not Classic, which seems far more functional?
I wonder whether it's about cramming even more Google AdChoice advertising in, as having turned adblocker off it would appear that on GTI there is an advert being loaded along the top of the forum, then another one between the "my profile" and "start new topic" tabs, plus the curtain advert(s) along the right hand side half way down between posts and yet another advert (or two) running along the bottom of the page too.
Funny how nearly all of the ads are also ones that heavily drain memory / resources when viewed in the web browser too.
