I seem to be in the minority in that I have been using GTI for a few years, out of choice! It seems a bit rough round the edges, with certain pages not moved over to the theme, but it seemed to work best for me switching between mobile and full sized browsers.

There is still work to be done, hopefully with it being the only theme now it will be sorted. Well they have to spend that £50M somehow...

Wow, this is dreadful. The text is too small (Mac/Safari) but when I press the "A" button on the toolbar it goes weird....

Reminds me of this website from the 1990's

You seem to be getting the mobile version on your Mac, I'm not sure why that might be, but hopefully PistonTechs can advise, especially if this is what a lot of people are seeing.

Just realized that I was previously Big Blue, whereas I thought I was PH Classic.
Same here,It's the layout I prefer and then have zoom on 110% using a PC.

It just looks like I'm logged out and writing too big when it should be smaller and vice versa...

GTI makes a lot of sense when viewing on my mobile and I like the pinned bar along the bottom so I don't need to scroll up and click on the tiny 'what's new' button. I like it and I've adapted very quickly over the past week although my only gripe is not bring able to pinch zoom on photos.

I've not tried it on a full size desktop, only a tiny browser in the corner of my screen when I should be working.

Previously 'Big Blue' loyal.

On the 'my stuff' section it doesn't have the grey/blue thread numbers to let you see were you finished reading on longer threads.

Now, we know you love the forums (as do we) but we know they're not perfect. This is why we've decided to streamline the various "skins" (these gave PHers the ability to modify the look of the forums to their taste) that were previously available on PistonHeads, meaning that only the "GTI" one will be offered going forwards.

The reasons for doing this are that by operating with just a single skin, we can develop and deliver improvements much more quickly; this is something that has obviously been lacking in the past. Previously having four skins was kind of like having a very unreliable classic car - extremely high maintenance and it required 4 times the work for even a seemingly simple repair. By having a single skin we also know that all PHers are getting a consistent view of our website, especially with the ever increasing move to users viewing the site on their mobile devices which the "GTI" skin is optimised for.

Those of you who were previously using the GTI skin will obviously be unaffected, but if you're moving from one of our old skins this may all look a bit different. However, all the functionality (and more!) remains, so please do take a few minutes to get used to the new layout.

We do hope you enjoy the new experience but if you really don't like what you're seeing, you can always change back to the skin you were using in your profile settings. However, this will only be temporary as the upcoming move to a secure HTTPS connection across all of PH in April will mean that we permanently remove all skins except GTI as the old ones will no longer be compatible. If there are any changes you'd like to see made to GTI, pop a comment or suggestion into this thread and we'll get it sorted as soon as possible, and now that we only have one skin to consider the work should be completed much faster! Please do keep feedback constructive though!

Best wishes

Gti or whatever this one is looks foul on both my mobile and my pc. Can we have the old one back?

Not sure if it's because I use Firefox, but the two newer themes look the same to me. I have it on classic, but not really bothered by the other if I get logged out and browse a bit.

If people still want Classic once it's gone, I'm not the best with css, but I'll see if I can get the Classic theme overiding by dumping it into Stylish, tried quickly with 'phclassic.css' earlier and it doesn't work, so needs some fiddling. I tried to theme PH via Stylish years ago and gave up in the end.

Global styles are another option, I turn on a dark one for PH sometimes when the white gets a bit tiring. Most of them work really well with PH as it's pretty basic.

Must say, GTI has never been my skin of choice with the PistonHeads forum. I've always used the one with the black header, PH smiley logo and 'Speed Matters' tagline. I can't recall the name because I never changed from it as, in my opinion, there was no other skin of comparable quality. A real 'set and forget' option for me.

It wasn't perfect: I wasn't too fussed on the font used for replies on macOS, which was a small, generic sans-serif where I'm much more used to a monospaced font like Courier... which was always what appeared for me on Windows.

Since it seems it won't be changing, I'd like to see a few options for GTI: not massive overhauls, just adjustments made available to us. I'd like a milder grey background similar to the colour around the reply box instead of white, which feels substantially more stark than I would like for nighttime browsing.

It's a minor thing but I'd also like to change the 'Gassing Station' to 'Speed Matters' or, at least, a different typeface. It's a bit too Comic Sans-y for a forum that, by and large, takes itself seriously. TonyRPH has already done an excellent job of highlighting issues with the typefaces, so I won't go repeating it.

Do you expect us to assume it was only coincidental that GTI delivers twice as many adverts on the forum listing page therefore creating more views (and more revenue) for you?

GTI is not an improvement over PH Classic.

No, I don't think it could be that, PH expressed that GTI was becoming the favourite with users hence the decision. I have no doubt that Haymarket, now seeing that PH Classic is by far the preferred option will revert.

Do I understand it correctly, PH towers are forcing everyone to use the least used and liked skin?

Why would they do that?

Uses twice as much paper when I print out a thread in GTI and I still need glasses to read it.

GTI looks terrible on my mobile and is crap to navigate too as some of the really simple, useful functionality has been removed.

Bah humbug.
