GTI looks terrible on my mobile and is crap to navigate too as some of the really simple, useful functionality has been removed.

Bah humbug.
2 minutes after typing that I found the settings button and then realised I could set the skin as classic. Guess what I'm using now?

I haven't read this whole thread, so sorry if it's mentioned before.

On my Topics and Replies page (the one I have set up as a shortcut to jump straight into), it used to have a useful feature where the pages that had not previously been read would appear as bold. Now if there's one page at the end that hasn't been read then the whole thread lights up in bold. If this is as it's meant to be then it's a step backwards. In fact it's so useless you may as well disable it completely.

Oh, and the classifieds remains unusably slow. When it's much quicker just to type what you're looking for into google and jusp straight into that page (eg "Pistonheads Lotus Elise S1 for sale") then your developers should realise that they've got it completely wrong. Autotrader does it so much better.

I wasn't even aware this was possible, i knew that when I wasn't logged in the format was horrible, now it seems that horrible is the default skin, shame.
Absolutely agree. This sites awful now to use on an iPhone. Well actually it's awful full stop.

No, I don't think it could be that, PH expressed that GTI was becoming the favourite with users hence the decision. I have no doubt that Haymarket, now seeing that PH Classic is by far the preferred option will revert.

Hardly a fair poll though. Those who are already using GTI are unlikely to bother to visit "website feedback" and hence unlikely to see the vote.

Genuinely, I have no idea what you are talking about. (By the way, my 'four-skin' was removed along time ago, so get with it).

Those people who keep posting "ah it's ok, I've just realised you can change it back"......I suggest you go back and read the first post in the thread properly. The ability to do that is TEMPORARY.

Despite my earlier protests I've now used the "new" skin on a mobile (Android, Chrome beta) and it looks vastly better than it did previously. I can even click things without zooming in first.

Presumably the other (grey) skin didn't have a mobile friendly version?

So I suspect I'll survive.

This skin on mobile is heaps better. Can actually use the site, and it looks vaguely modern. I like it much more. Desktop skin, not so much, but this is great. A few niggles, like the menu button top right not always working, would also be nice to jump to forums via that, but otherwise

Hm. The thing with GTI is that whenever it appears, it always makes me want to log in just to escape it. I find it very hard to read, and if I can't log in for whatever reason (on phone = can't be bothered fiddling with tiny letters) then I tend to just have a 2-minute skim rather than a proper read of the posts.

If I can't escape it at all? I just won't visit as much.

I have to admit, I am not liking this new skin, so much harder to read as the topics are bunched so much closer together.

The only thing that works (not in a good way), is the adverts, which now seem to have prominence , both in the top right and upper centre of the screen, which comes at the expense of a harder to read topics page.

A retrograde step, IMOHO, but clearly not for the advertisers, which is, I suspect, why this was done.

Well, it took me about five minutes to switch back to the old skin.

As for adverts... There are ads on PH? When did that happen?

Ha, you are right! I didn't realise I could change the skin back to classic via my profile. Changed it back to PH Classic and all's well again...

GTI is ok on my phone, but awful on my Mac.

I suspect the change is due to more folk using mobile devices to access the forums.

Maybe the old classic skin requires more time to make work with new features, they can't be arsed to change/work through the issues.

There's nothing we can do, will everyone leave and go to a different forum? I doubt it. Unless anyone can think of a good alternative.....https://www.blatters.com/

Indeed - quite how a skin can break ssl compatibility... lol.

Any excuse to force the roll out of the new skin eh?

Highly amused by all this. Bawwww the forum I don't pay anything to use has changed slightly. Bawwww some of these elements on the page aren't quite pixel-aligned with each other. Bawwww this isn't fair.

Get over yourselves people. It's a fking skin. Jesus.

Giggled at this too. Really hope whoever wrote the post is a manager, and not an actual techie.

PH is like Ryanair, the airline everybody loves to hate, but still flock to in droves.

Come on, we are all wealthy business owners, Co Directors, supercar owners, middle/upper class on here, we embrace change, that's why we are all so successful in life.

Well apart from those in the council thread that is, but there is no hope for them anyway.

In a few weeks time we will all be using a new skin and saying how good it is and all will be forgotten blabla

I just checked settings and realised I was using "Big Blue" for ages.

I prefer that to classic by miles - Classic sucks.
