Procedure when getting banned from a thread

Mods,

Do you generally email users after banning them from a thread?

Seems I've been banned from the new GTi/UI thread without a reason given, don't think my posts were too inflammatory.

Is there a defined procedure Mods/PH Staff follow?

It would normally coincide with a post deletion mail, that explains why the post was removed. If a thread prune took place then only the first post in the prune gets a mail.

It's a good point, but at the mo an automatic email option doesn't come up for the mods to send. I'll get it added to our long list of to-do's.

So no record of the ban and no idea which Mod/admin carried it out??

I don't think any of my posts were removed though? Nor the thread being pruned that included my posts?

I'll take a look when I have a mo and see if anything shows up.

Also forgot to add in my quote above That we do get the auto email option when we issue a forum Ban, and we fill in the box with the reason.

I've had a few removed before - mainly because I've been quoted or had quoted words that were later removed

I've had the odd shot across the bows when I've been on the "edge" but to my knowledge never banned

I'm expecting that to change if you can manage to get banned from the Skin thread

Then I can "understand" why you would be banned from that thread - but hardly grounds to ban from another unrelated thread??

Thread bans only relate to a particular thread!

Example, if you were rude to me on this thread, I would ban you from this thread only. IF you really p*ssed me off on this thread, and you were not behaving on other threads in this forum, I could issue a temporary/Permanent forum ban. That would stop you posting on any thread in this forum.

Al, did you manage to have a look at it?

From what I can see Andrew you both appear to have upset a member of HM with separate posts you made, on the thread. You were subsequently both banned from the thread.
