I think thw thing is, while we can all enjoy an 89s ford. Nobody actually likes a car which regularly leaves you stranded.

Is this a problem once more as I'm getting this error when trying to reply to a thread I'd previously replied to just half an hour earlier.

Still doing it. and 'select' seems to be the culprit in the reply...but not always, and not in all areas of the forum...strangely.

It will be a combination of select plus some other word(s) used in sql. It may also be affected by line breaks so will seem a bit random.

Today's word giving me a 403 was "build" on the video games forum.

It's been on housing threads but for some reason not on the post I was making in games. If it appears here now it's typical.

edited to add, and it did.

clean build <-- that was the phrase.

Yes! I have just written a reply "just select your DOB on the screen" and 403 Forbidden. Took me ages to figure it out, but it is that word. Removing it completely or changing the spelling lets you submit your post then.

Is there any mod feedback on this ? The thread is long now and this is quite site-breaking so should be a high priority fix? Where is the Matt Dell guy?

Wrote a long reply on the ‘what have you done to your BMW today’ thread with info that some members might have found useful when servicing their brakes on Fxx models.

Kept getting the 403 message when previewing or posting - no swear words (intended or accidental), no weird links, tried with and without pictures and changing words that a bot might find even remotely offensive.

No idea what the issue is, too much of a ball ache for me to attempt any more edits for an ongoing problem that PH techs can’t sort out.

It happens if you have SQL phrases on the same line in your text.

But yeah, PH techs don't seem to care or can't fix it. Been going on for too long.

Look for words used in SQL (database language). It appears that the site is trying to block what is sees as SQL code imbeded in your text.

SQL is used to filter and manipulate data so words like...

SELECT
INSERT
UPDATE
DELETE
TRUNCATE
ADD
CREATE
AND
FROM
WHERE

Also brackets can be a problem

It will be 2 or more on the same line.

@Condi and 98elise

Thanks for your replies, it is likely that my post had several of those key words but if PH techies can’t be arsed fixing the issue then I can’t be arsed re-writing my post.

Cheers

As said, if you still have a copy of it, paste half of it in and 'test' that. Then if the works, paste the other half in. If a section doesnt work, paste half of that section.

Tedious on a phone, easier on a computer, but you can very quickly split down to the cause and redraft just that paragraph. However I agree its ste!

As above, its about the content on the reply, rather than anything else. Re-word your response.

Appreciate the info on how to resolve. Perhaps a mod could at least quote the workaround in an early/first post for you don't have to trawl the thread. Rewriting the answer is fine for a couple of sentences. I wanted to bore people at length, so the 1500 words I'd written had to be dissected into small sections and posted in, previewed to establish acceptability and this process repeated.

My offending sentences were:

It was the moving parts that provided the compatibility headache:

The headset needed a 1 1/8th and 1.5 top and bottom race, specced according to the frame's insert space.

Cue a set of calipers and my best reading glasses.

Obviously spacing them out resolves, but only after I'd been through 1500 word's worth of sentences and also, I don't want to punctuate and paragraph like a simpleton.

This is happening to me too, for reasons I cannot fathom.

The reasons are all listed above!

But yeah, it's shocking.

Thanks JeremyC for pointing me to this thread as I've just run in to this for the first time.

If you replace the asterisks below with "programme from favourites" it will fall over with a 403. Odd.

Select the ****** in the app & away it goes.

Find an alternative for 'Select' and I'd expect it to be fine ...

How about "choose the programme from favourites ..."?

SELECT and...
...FROM are key words used in SQL queries.

I had to split that sentence over 2 lines to get it through without the 403 error
