This is just a heads-up for everyone, no action needed (or in fact possible, I suspect).

Received an email this morning which purported to come from Pistonheads and looked fairly genuine:

Checked the source address and it did say membership@pistonheads.com

However, the message was distinctly fishy:

Dodgy Email said:
Username: B0ss7Dog
Email: bossman247@hotmail.co.uk

Message:
Hey mate,

Hope you're doing very well.

I've read a few of your posts where you clearly have a lot of knowledge in vulnerabilities of car security devices.

I know that if a thief truly wants your car they will ind a way, and I also know you won't tell me the vulnerabilities.

However, I would greatly appreciate if you could gie me a 2024 updated list of tips/tricks you would use to secure your car today.

Thanks so much
Now

(a) I don't recall posting much about car security (but that could just be my memory failing),
(b) I'm actually not gullible enough to share that info with anyone I don't know, and
(c) the clincher is that Mr Bossdog (B0ss7Dog) doesn't appear in the member directory.

Just thought you all might want to be aware.

Thanks for flagging this. This is someone using our PM system to contact you so the email has come through the PistonHeads email system, but is not from the PistonHeads team, as it were. Definitely looks weird to me though.

There was an odd post in GG a while back asking for similar things, would people be interested in discussing their requirements for a revolutionary new security system blah blah blah.

Not sure what the scam is beyond some sort of phishing or investment thing.
