URLs in first thread posts

Seems to be a recurring theme whereby any links posted fail in the first post in a thread but are ok in the 2nd post onwards, e.g.

www.google.co.uk

www.google.co.uk

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4

Although, see the 3rd link I've put up there now and compare and contrast with this thread:

where I copied and pasted it from as-is.

In that thread, the link doesn't work in the first post, but does when its been re-posted a couple of entries later.

Seen this happen a lot over the past day or two, so something's not quite right.

I've noticed this too, paste a URL into a post, and it gets truncated.

the truncating is a good thing; I had noticed. Post a mega long URL and it doesnt end up taking over your post, it just shortens the text but keeps the actual link behind it. A nice touch. Hadn't noticed the links not actually working though
