We seem to have cars in abundance (hoorah!)and motorbikes but no powerboats on PH. I run an 18' speedboat powered by a 5.3 litre, 290 hp V8 engine (unsilenced!) and there must be many out there who are equally interested in muscle boats as well as muscle cars. I accept that the muscle boat is more prevalent in big ol' US of A but there must be an interest here, even for the odd forum in the summer. Does anyone agree there should be a powerboat section? Would there be any interest?

I sense another "powerboats are better than sail boats" argument coming on.

Great entertainment for the slow day ahead.

I'm sure lots of TVR owners are closet powerboat fans. There are so many parallels:

GRP Body - Yes
Hand built - Yes
Make good noise - Yes
Leak - Some do apparently
Require fettling - Yes
Potential for big bills - Yes
Subject to upgraditis - Yes
Lots of fun - IMO yes

There must be tons of us on here with boats. I have a half share in a Cobalt 205. It's a 21 footer, 250hp Volvo V8, Monster tower. Me and my mate who are both old enough to know better like to go wakeboarding badly in the summer. But it's a huge money pit and even at a half share I wince every year at mooring fees, insurance etc. Never mind fuel...

Hmm, anyone want to buy a boat?

Who is the Cobalt 205 made by? I don't recognise the marque.

ATTENTION TED.

If there is enough interest perhaps we could have a boating forum?

Err Cobalt , www.cobaltboats.com. Nice brand and thoroughly over engineered, unlike some other boats we could mention. The sole UK dealer is here in the North so we see quite a few of them around these parts. I cannot fault the ownership experience.

A boat forum might be fun. We've got a 90 year old 18' Hamble One.

Pretty much deserved that one! Shame is that I "googled" Cobalt 205 and only came up with a Chemistry lesson! Have now reviewed the Cobalt 205 and can confirm that it is a beauty! My "ship" is a 1980 Broom Capricorn.
