I would add that PhonepayPlus list at least one of the 07xxxxx numbers used by PhoneSafe as being run by 'Promotions4ll Ltd'.

I have been told by PH that I will be receiving compensation/refund for the majority of the exceptional call charges,

which I am happy with.

They have also said that they will be making changes to make it clearer to the user of phonesafe and what exactly it is.

They thanked me for my feedback and I now await the transfer of the compensation/refund.

I think they will probably make a statement themselves regarding this.

Thank you to all the posters, and the original poster who has probably not been on here for a while.

If and when I do get reimbursed I will let you all know.

I note PhonepayPlus list promotions4ll ltd as running the PhoneSafe numbers. However, there is no such Ltd Co. in existence, according to Companies House.

This does seem extremely murky, even if all is above board.

Mentioned earlier, seems to be an "a" after the "4".

070 numbers are regulated by Ofcom. However, PhonepayPlus can investigate services on these numbers if they are found to offer premium rate-style services and/or the number is being misused and if the cost of the call exceeds 10p per minute.
My bold.
Taken from here.

Yes, I saw that, but that company does not share the same registered address. If it's a typo, it's also common across a number of websites and numbers operated by promotions4ll.

If you Google promotions4ll you'll get a few results from the 'whocallsme' website. It appears there are a number of people who believe they're being scammed by this company, using the 07xxx numbers similar in format to those being used by Phonesafe.

I think Haymarket should introduce some clarity onto this situation, as it appears on the face of it that people are being unfairly charged by a premium rate number failing to adhere to the regulations.

I hope thats not really true :-)

The other thing I hope is that I really do get my money back, and that my forum posts arent going to mess that up.

Yesterday I was incredibly angry about this.

PS Cmon City, big match tonight (that might not help me either seeing as a lot of the forum members are based down south therefore could well be united fans ! I am of course joking )

As per our previous posts on this matter PhoneSafe is a free service for sellers to keep their own numbers private and help eliminate annoying canvassers, which are blocked.

The charges are explained by clicking the PhoneSafe logo but we are going to add an additional explanation text link next to the logo following the comments raised in this thread.

Thanks to ALXJ for raising the issue. We have shown our appreciation by processing a refund for the two exceptional length mobile calls he made to a seller. For reference the average call is 2 minutes so the cost is reasonable.

We are committed to easier and safer buying and selling for PHers. We think PhoneSafe is a good service. As a potential buyer if you do not wish to call the number, then you can of course us the email contact seller form to email direct.

For your information our PhoneSafe is powered by GCIComm.
