For the record, I've actually not bothered with cars with a Phonesafe number for that reason.
Just received my mobile bill today....£60 of calls to 070 personal numbers (Phonesafe)
The charge for mobile use is 75p a minute
Just spoke to Pistonheads head office and complained that there should be a clear warning next the number
not just a click through page which you wouldnt even know you could click on unless you put your cursor over it !
I am so angry now
Ive written off to Rupert Heseltine (son of Micheal) chairman of the Haymarket group who takes a keen interest in the digital marketing of the company...will be interesting to see what he has to say....PH passed the buck....
They are not interested because this is obviously a revenue stream for them....
hence the OP goes back to 2009 and nothing has been done about warning people who ring these numbers

Not had a problem with it myself. I simply call and then ask for a direct number to call back on.
It would be good if PH put the call charges next to or under the logo - but then I guess they'd get less people falling for the 'ruse'.
Are 'personal' numbers not covered by the premium rate service rules regarding clear and accurate pricing information.

I just thought these 070 numbers were weird looking mobile numbers that were there to protect the seller from marketing not some money making operation preying on their own punters

At first I thought "oh another whinger, but then I wondered how obvious it is on the mobile site.
Not very! It looks like a mobile number with absolutely no warning that it's a premium rate number. If you click on the unassuming 'using phonesafe' bit then it takes you to a page describing the costs as being much lower than what the person above quotes.
It's not obvious that the 'using phonesafe' message is actually a link though.

Wow! You're missing the point! You're NOT displaying the information clearly, regardless of who's chosen/enforced it. You can see my example above on the mobile site and here's a screenshot from my ipad

So PH doesn't make any money when a seller uses Phonesafe? Simple yes/no will do.And the complaint isn't about the service, but that the extra costs for the caller aren't made clear (at best some some vague costings are given when you click on a logo which doesn't really invite being clicked on).
