Whilst we may disagree, I do hope that you get the outcome you want.
Thank you.I am surprised you disagree though, unless you are a premium rate phone service provider I would have thought every fair minded individual would have wanted these extortionate numbers cost's to be made visible.

For the record, I've actually not bothered with cars with a Phonesafe number for that reason.
Just received my mobile bill today....£60 of calls to 070 personal numbers (Phonesafe)
The charge for mobile use is 75p a minute
Just spoke to Pistonheads head office and complained that there should be a clear warning next the number
not just a click through page which you wouldnt even know you could click on unless you put your cursor over it !
I am so angry now
Ive written off to Rupert Heseltine (son of Micheal) chairman of the Haymarket group who takes a keen interest in the digital marketing of the company...will be interesting to see what he has to say....PH passed the buck....
They are not interested because this is obviously a revenue stream for them....
hence the OP goes back to 2009 and nothing has been done about warning people who ring these numbers
What a joke !!!!

Not had a problem with it myself. I simply call and then ask for a direct number to call back on.
It would be good if PH put the call charges next to or under the logo - but then I guess they'd get less people falling for the 'ruse'.
Are 'personal' numbers not covered by the premium rate service rules regarding clear and accurate pricing information.
What gets my goat, is the wording:

Buyers who contact a seller through PhoneSafe will be charged only a small amount more than direct calls.
I assume most people with have normal numbers as part of a free bundle of calls - none of which would cover these premium/personal numbers, so it's more like:PhoneSafe should have said:
Buyers who contact a seller through PhoneSafe will be charged a significant amount more than direct calls - and will be bum-raped if they're stupid enough to do it from a mobile.
Rupert's PA will send you a letter of waffle and send a nice bottle of port to Garlick and Co. as someone has demonstrated in nice simple terms how the deliberate policy of misleading has put a few extra quid on the bottom line.
Congratulations, this is your first post and you're already one of PHs most valuable contributors (to Haymarket)
I've never called one of these 'phonesafe' numbers so have no personal grudge but the whole thing is a shameless scam. The solution to people like you being misled is very simple but the fact that this topic has been going for years and so many other people have posted about it in the past
makes it clear that this cashcow is one that they simply won't give up. To hell with the 'community'.
Perhaps try watchdog?

I'm in the process of contacting trading standards, its too late now but will do so tomorrow
If they want £60 from me they will have to fight hard for it....
I just thought these 070 numbers were weird looking mobile numbers that were there to protect the seller from marketing not some money making operation preying on their own punters
That is sad
Pistonheads you have shown yourselves up there, its not a community, its a sham, a money making sham

At first I thought "oh another whinger, but then I wondered how obvious it is on the mobile site.
Not very! It looks like a mobile number with absolutely no warning that it's a premium rate number. If you click on the unassuming 'using phonesafe' bit then it takes you to a page describing the costs as being much lower than what the person above quotes.
It's not obvious that the 'using phonesafe' message is actually a link though.

Phonesafe has been in operation for some time now, and by and large it has served us and those using it well.
However, you raise a good point regarding clarity of pricing. We are acting above and beyond our legal obligation with regards to displaying prices (you need to click on the logo to see them) but I will chat with the provider to see if that can be made clearer as it is not out intention to hide anything or to misinform.
If you are unhappy with anything regarding this moving forward, please feel free to e mail me, or communicate via this forum if you prefer.
I Would be interested to get this sorted out, and get it stopped so nobody else gets stungHowever, you raise a good point regarding clarity of pricing. Phonesafe numbers are chosen by the seller, it's not something we stipulate so there is no money making scam, it's the seller that has chosen it not us that has enforced it.
Wow! You're missing the point! You're NOT displaying the information clearly, regardless of who's chosen/enforced it. You can see my example above on the mobile site and here's a screenshot from my ipad Where do you see the warning about Phonesafe? Trading standards would be very interested in that and your comment above really fking angers me.

So PH doesn't make any money when a seller uses Phonesafe? Simple yes/no will do.And the complaint isn't about the service, but that the extra costs for the caller aren't made clear (at best some some vague costings are given when you click on a logo which doesn't really invite being clicked on).

So am I gonna get my money back ?
Ive paid for adverts to sell my car which I've always been happy to do
but I'm not happy about being charged £60 for a couple of phone calls which I thought were free, in my minutes
Ofcom are looking at this now because 070 numbers look like mobile numbers, its deception to charge for something without warning
£60
