I'm dabbling with the idea of entering the dark side and trying a Lambo, initial thoughts were probably a Huracan but I can't get the Aventador out of the equation as well.
I'm hearing a few horror stories about insuring Aventadors, could anyone give me a steer on this. I appreciate it all depends on where and who but how do they compare to other supercars?.

Cheers

Steve

Can't advise on Aventador however Aviva took my lp670 on, valued around 300k with no problems and wasn't expensive to cover.

I am also insured with Aviva no issues at all.

Admiral (!) took mine for ~£700. Read the policy to understand what you do and don't get, and what you do or don't want eg 3'rd party cover on non owned vehicles, glass replacement cost cap, new for old in yr.1, "market" value on write off or agreed value, repair location of your choice or theirs, car hire period on claim, legal expenses cover on pursuing a claim, protected or guaranteed no claims, off public road track day cover, nurburgring - vehicle, other vehicles and the ring itself damage cover.

Certainly not from Admiral, but specialised track day insurers do offer it, albeit with rather low(if not useless) limits. I would not use my own car there for that primary reason that an "off" can have huge costs associated - especially when they bill you for tarmac damage, armco damage, loss of profit on closed track time etc. I only use the on site car hire companies - yes its a rubbish car, but I couldn't drive the circuit at anything like the potential of a lambo / F / P etc - so a little run about is fine for me there.

So you've now swapped the Italia for an Aventador? Excellent and congrats! Can't wait to see it.

Mines with Lockton on a max mileage policy at around £3.5k .... Let me know how you get on with admiral as 700 seems very cheap.

Congratulations on the purchase Steve and welcome to the dark side. I was admiring your new toy earlier at Silverstone. All its missing is your private plate.

70proof- Dark side is a blast, the Aventador is very different from the 458. Not so precise but really great fun. Its worth driving just to see people's reaction as you roll thro the town.
Still getting to terms with the power delivery , its my first V12 and I'm surprised by the difference it and the V8 but it's all good just a case of spending time behind the wheel.

Hi Lee, waiting for the documents to arrive any day now. Surprised to see your car up for sale! Mind you given the value of these things of late I can't say I blame you, I think anything you replace it with is going to feel a little dull.
