Bit of a quandary at the moment, I bought my Aventador not much more than 6 months ago with the intention of keeping it for very special occasions and possibly covering 3k miles a year tops. However you know what best intentions are and I've so enjoyed driving it that I've covered more miles than planned without even the summer season being upon us.
So with the car being a 2013 and warranted until March 2016 do I keep it for the summer putting another 3-4k miles on it (10k at present) or do I sell it now with warranty. I've no idea what to replace it with as I really don't think much else can come close this side of a hyper car for that sense of occasion.
Thoughts please.

Steve

I like spending other people's money for them so how about a 650S ?

Hard to replicate the visual impact of an Aventador though.

Where do you go after an Aventador ? I dont see much replacement this side of 500k ? and nothing with the visual impact.
whats the financial implications of selling with or without warranty ?
whats the financial implications of another 5k miles ? in my view they go in tens so once over 10k your next step is 20k etc.
I would imagine even the continued loss (if applicable) on the Aventador would be less than that on a new 650s or 458 etc.

Go for something classic and manual like a countach or an old Ferrari

Not sure about the warranty bit to be honest I'd prefer to buy with warranty I know that. Another 10k, well it depends on the thoughts of the next owner really if he/ she goes with the norm and looks at these cars rather than drives it who knows it might not matter but it will have an effect on value.
Classics aren't my thing so who knows what next, maybe a Huracan or Speciale bug I can't help but think they will feel almost ordinary!

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it's interesting there's no option to renew the warranty. That 'other' car outfit down the road to them seems to have a great warranty offering.

Totally agree. I went from Aventador to Aventador Roadster. Nothing else really grabs me - other than unobtainium cars just now!

You might want to change the wheels for the Roadsters - it transform the handling - and looks so much better, in my view.

it's hard to beat!

Bought my first Lambo in 1987.
Still got it.
If you love it, keep it.

Hi Steve,

I'm with kbooker on this one.

You bought this car with your heart and clearly you are loving it. I don't know about you but when I bought my NSX and then 355 (many a year ago) I wasn't concerned about what mileage would do to their resale potential. Both cars were loved and looked after with no expense spared which, in my book, is more important than mileage and/or months left on warranties. Granted, they are nowhere near in the same league as your Aventador but at the time they were super cars nonetheless. If I were in your shoes I would be keeping it and enjoying it to its full potential for some more time (which should be all the justification you need to keep such an epic piece of automotive art). Life is too short to worry about what other people might think.

Besides, I absolutely love seeing you drive it through the village ;-) It always puts a smile on my face :-)

All the best,

Dan

I would highly recommend keeping it as well. I went through a similar scenario this time last year and went through with the sale. Guess what I bought again in July!! I really don't think there is anything else out there in that price range that gives you more bang for your buck...and personally I don't think there is a better looking car on the road.

What about something slightly leftfield circa 300K mar i.e an LFA or a Carrera GT.

Still fullfills the exotic hypercar role, shouldnt lose too much, still modern, bloody rare too in the LFAs case

I think the Carrera GT taken off a bit since the 300k days.

No brainer. Keep it and enjoy it. It's probably at the 240k mark, and will still be at the 200k mark after another year and will likely stay around there for the next couple of years. What else is there at that price. A load of V8/V10s or old appreciating classics.

I'm a classic boy myself so that's where I remain, but I do love the Aventador and they have held their value very well. Definitely a future classic.

If you still enjoy it, why replace it at all?
If it had 60k on the clock then yeah perhaps I would think about trading it in.

I'm with the others, just keep it, enjoy every mile knowing that nothing comes close to it without shelling out £500k+.
