. early high dash binnacle which makes seeing out 'difficult' to say the least
Unless you are five foot four, it really isn't. That is the reason why Lamborghini changed the binnacle in around late '93/early '94 and before the VT was introduced which had numerous other changes.
The revised design binnacle is far superior not just for shorter drivers but taller ones as well.
It gives the driver an infinitely better view of the road allowing you to position the car far better.
For any prospective purchasers of an early 2WD Diablo I'd recommend you try and drive both and decide for yourself.

Yes. Still got it. I've had it nearly 20 years now.

Fair enough, but I've had both and think the later binnacle makes such a difference.I can honestly say that I don't notice that the binnacle is there.
I would still recommend prospective purchasers try both (if they can) and make up their own mind.
You must have bought yours when it was relatively new, what mileage have you done?

183 - 1991 Lamborghini Diablo
Registration J754 DYE
Chassis Number ZA90E07A0NLA12526
Engine Number ZA90E07A0NLA12526
Odometer reading 80,201 km
Hammer Sold - £98,560
Presented in Lamborghini Super Fly Yellow with contrasting blue leather interior, this Diablo looks every part the loud example Lamborghinis should be. Having been originally supplied to the UAE before being imported to the UK in 2003, this car has been enjoyed but loved throughout its tenure. It has been serviced comprehensively throughout its ownership by renowned specialists Carrera Sport and Bob Houghton as detailed in the stamped maintenance book. Recently serviced and with a new MoT test certificate until December 2016 together with handbooks, workshop manual and a history file detailing the previous maintenance, this car was treasured by the vendor as one of the centre pieces of his collection. Without question, this stunning Italian Sportscar is one of the world's true supercars and is offered with a very tempting estimate given their relative scarcity in today's market.
That's strong money surely.......?
It's an interesting marker, and confirms the steady price inflation. Early 2WD and LHD, high mileage....http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2016-03...

Precisely two years ago a cleaner, RHD, lower mileage 2WD that Carlo had at Top Gear sold for iro 56k. At that time the two SE30s he had for sale went for £139,950 (Red) and £149,950 (Viola).
Another early LHD 2WD High Binnacle car coming to auction soon, 28k miles, guided at £90-110k

The car overall seems a right sorry mess. I struggle to understand why someone would spend so much time and money adding false livery and questionable 'modifications'.

To me the yellow one looks like strong money- Carlo has a red 2wd model for sale at £120k right now and it has been offer for a few months It is RHD and lower miles than the one auctioned, furthermore he has done a light resto on it and has installed PAS and a Murci clutch (albeit it has later headlights and wheels)
In terms of the dash? I would love a lower dash for aesthetic reasons but at over six feet I struggle more with the windscreen header than the dash binnacle, I certainly wouldn't describe it as dangerous.

I sold that yellow diablo j754dye on ebay last january to a guy in slough berks don,t remember that quoted service history Precisely two years ago a cleaner, RHD, lower mileage 2WD that Carlo had at Top Gear sold for iro 56k. George 500 - I remember the Scurio Blue 2WD well. I travelled from London to view that car and had a deposit on it. We discussed the price of getting original wheels on it etc. It was then I saw the 2 SE30s in the corner and I couldn't resist. I had agreed 56k with Carlo on yours and he had indicated 2.lk for the replacement original wheels. Yours is a great example!

It was £60k in the end and I paid £2k for a set of original wheels. Still glad I did it in retrospect (obviously) but I am clearly inept as I like driving it and therefore am apparently destroying value in this absurd mileage obsessed climate...

Another early LHD car coming up for auction soon (Goodwood FoS 24th June). Lots of pictures but strangely no description (yet).
