Looks like I may need some bits.

I tried to fit the roof ragesmash which was eventful. And the velcro is sh*te and the windows don't seal against the rubber irked

Also, I can't seem to find the rear wind deflector rolleyesconfused

I believe the part is 417862951A

Anyone know of a thread for Murci parts (new/used) other than Eurospares?

Thanks

I have the exact same issues you mentioned about the Velcro and seals. It doesn't bother me at all as the roof was hardly ever on due to the after thought design of it which destroy the beauty and the lines on the roadster when it's on. And for the very rare times when the roof was on and driving in heavy rain, it leaked. Even when parked stationery overnight in the rain, my passenger footwell was wet.

With regards to the rear wind deflector, they are options....just like the carbon fibre front wind deflector. I am fortunate enough to have both and their storage bag for my car. However, my rear deflector was cracked (glass) but I replaced it with a Perspex one (of the exact same thickness) and had 'Lamborghini' edge on it. As far as I can remember, the price of the front deflector, rear deflector and the storage bag are quite ridiculously priced. Have you tried eBay, there was a silver roadster that was breaking in Australia and remember seeing them for sale as I was looking at the roof bag he was selling

Congrats on the car and I am sure you'll enjoy it.....with the roof off.

p/s: the roadster is lower than the coupe, slow down going thru speed bumps. Never need to do it on my coupe but learn it the hard way in the roadster. Raise the front suspension is what I do now.

Thanks A7see.

So it seems that its a common issue.

I'm intending on doing a few europe trips this year so I'll have to make sure the cars not caught in the rain.

I've been directed to Eurospares for the deflector (I have the bag, but no deflector) but £650 isn't cheap eek

E-Bay I checked already... nothing there at the moment. Not sure how to check Australia?

I'll keep looking in the meantime. type

I just remove the floor well carpets now if it's raining as it easier to wipe it dry. I did the North Coast 500 with couple of my mates last October and was driving through heavy rain on the second day but the route and the scenery was well worth it, albeit the roadster is not the best car for the roads. Cracked the front bumper when going thru one particular bad dip on the road, on top of the countless scrape on the underside of the bumper prior to the crack. banghead

With regards to the rear wind deflector, Are you missing the complete assembly or just the glass panel? If you have the two metal supports (like the 2 supports on the soft top that stabs in behind your seats) you can get a Perspex sheet machine cut out to the exact same shape as the original.

If you don't have the roof on and it rains, I was told that if you drive over 60 mph, you (and the inside of the car) will not get wet but I hadn't got the guts to try it. biggrin

In a strange way, I find this all deeply reassuring.

That the true spirit of Lamborghini lives on today......

Years ago, at the 35th anniversary bash, I drove to the factory in my Jalpa, as it has a targa top and we could enjoy the sun.
It absolutely poured with rain the whole time.
Valentino Balboni was topping up the oil in my car under a cover in a car park.
I complained to him that the targa top leaked and that the inside was wet. In his not very good English, he explained that they had never managed to get the seals right but that it was the first car that he'd done all the development driving on and he thought that it drove really well. Which was what was important!

A7see... I can't find any part of the deflector, the rods or the glass, so I'll need them both.
I have a Gallardo Spider, which with the roof up, the snug fit handles the rain pretty well.
The dealer in Birmingham did say that if I detected rain.... then to give myself 10-15 mins to get the roof on and still expect rain to get in when driving laugh and I deduct with your comments & Ferruccios comment, that I'm in for some wet driving with the Murci.crycry

First time I used my Murci for a weekend away, got to the hotel and the luggage, which had been in the front compartment, was soaked........leaky seal. Fixed by Pangbourne and, somewhat to my suprise, has been dry ever since.

Also check all the drainage is not blocked by leaves/ debris collected while driving as it will cause water to get in the footwell of the car. And yes, getting soaked driving old V12 lambs roadster is normal. laugh my Diablo roadster hardtop is not 100% leakproof either.

i was staying in the Bulgari Hotel in Milan a couple of years ago; a white murci roadster had pride of place in the front courtyard car park area; it was raining; and I noticed it had towels along both doors to absorb the water inside (roof on! LOL)

Chaps,

  • update*
Can't find the rear deflector, so a new one it is eek (Part #417871423 weeping Eurospares £676 +vat )

Car is now almost stripped and the guys are starting to reveal all sorts of stuff. Didn't realise so much steel was used, and hence there's plenty of corrosion which is going to need attention. I have a few photos if anyone interested (suppose these could form the start of my "before/during" and "after" collection)

Plenty of aftermarket parts available (as opposed to Eurospares) for hoses, clips and other bits & pieces, although there are some parts which I may just have to bite the bullet on. Such as the plastic trim which sits at the bottom of the windscreen (outer) that contains the jet washer nipples. (part #417819413 £670 + vat banghead) My man is going to have a good look at it once its fully removed & see if its savable/repairable.

As per the forums previous comments & via a few PM's I've had.... seems water ingress wasn't high on Sant Agata's list, as the seals & trims around the front bonnet/tub are useless. Silicone holding all the rubbers has either never been evident (or not applied in any useful quantity). But rectifiable I'm advised.

I'll offer an update every now & then on progress.

Also... I've taken the opportunity whilst the car is being stripped, and ordered a sports exhaust & sports cats from Larini, (having used them on my Gallardo coupe and more recently on the spider & I'm well happy with their systems) and I'm interested to know the forums' thoughts on whether the heat shield on the Murci Roadster needs to be re-installed or can be left omitted? Thoughts? (I think SydneySE & 845ste may have aftermarket systems?)

Thanks.

I looked at a Murci recently and the owner showed me the original steering rack clamps that he'd had changed as a precaution.

I didn't know that these were prone to corrosion and heard a story of an unfortunate chap who'd had one fail on him, leading to loss of steering and subsequent crash.

Well worth checking / replacing 'just in case'.

I can only speak for a 6.2 I have the larini high flow 200 cell cats going through a tubi back box both are very similar in size and muffleage... The stationary db is 94 at the pipes and 98 under full acceleration inside the cabin windows up, so buy some good quality earplugs for even short runs as I was slowly going deaf and as it can be heard from well over mile away .be prepared !!!!smile

The engine might need to be tilted a few degrees to fit the cats and although they are a really tight fit even with the ceramic coating on them id without question keep the heatshielding and that includes on the rear deck as the heat produced is utterly historic.

Hope all goes well !!
