Hi guys,

Silly question, but how do I know if my car has the sports exhaust upgrade, or not? The dealer I bought it from couldn't tell me at the time and it wasn't really a big deal for me.

Now, having had the car a month or so, it just feels too quiet. In Strada mode it's deathly silent - although good for the neighbours! In sport it opens up, but even then doesn't seem as loud as my Gallardo was! Being a V12, surely it should be louder?

Also - any reason why the enhance sport sound doesn't kick in until driving it for at least 5 minutes? Doesn't make sense why the sound change isn't instant after initial start-up!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the std exhaust to me. Unplug the valves, that'll make it sound like it should!

The sports exhaust takes a few minutes to kick in - which my neighbours are grateful for. The sports exhaust was a software update - but now I believe that there is a full on super loud exhaust - which is not road legal - and is actually too noisy for a long journey.

It doesn't do anything in Strada mode - but works in Sport and Corsa mode. I'm pretty sure that you would know if you had it installed!

If its factory stuff then there are only 3 possibilities as mentioned.

1. standard exhaust, valves open mid rev range and slightly lower in sport, etc

2. Sound performance tuning software on the standard exhaust - you can tell if it has this as if you switch to sport the valves open immediately, basically it just changes the open position to instant for sport and corsa, same loudness at top end

3. Race exhaust, no valves loud all the time, quite a bit louder than the standard exhaust, bigger double tip rather than the 4 tips on the exit pipes

V10 is quite a bit louder or at least to the ear sounds louder than V12 even with similar exhaust setup, its a bit disappointing tbh! Just so you know sport is a much louder mode than corsa as well on the aventador

With regards to why the sound doesn't kick in for a while it is because the engine has to get up to 90 degrees before the new software is activated, it is in order to heat the catalysts quicker and more uniformly, its purely a temperature thing, if its a hot day it will kick in a lot faster than if its a cold day
