Just spent a very pleasurable hour or so looking through this thread, every single photo posted so far is eye wateringly fabulous, thought I'd add some more if nobody minds.... not mine though, just bits 'n' bobs collected along the way...
The simplicity of the original LP500 still takes my breath away...

Hi Guys,
New to the forum (as such) - i was on here many years ago but cant remember all the login/username details.....
Wondering if anybody has any info on the below...
Red 5000S, UK supplied,(i am told) previous reg is HBA525Y and current reg is 50OOS

Any info/history would really be very much appreciated.

I have read through this whole thread and found the car on page 49, and note that it belonged to AndrewD, and i will be emailing him as soon as my account allows me to (24hrs).
Thanks again for the link, much appreciated
Yes they are OEM for that car - S2 LP400S. The are known as 'flag' mirrors for obvious reasons.
When the S3 LP400S started rolling off the production lines they moved at some point to the sleeker Vitaloni baby turbo mirrors, which they continued with the 5000S through to the Anniversary.
Interestingly (or not!) the early production run S1 4 litre cars had Vitaloni Sebring mirrors. Looked great but could imagine they weren't that useful as they were small and had quite a short stem. It looks as though Lamborghini went from one extreme (sebring) to the other (flag) before finding a more appropriate size (baby turbo).
Personally, and ever these things are only subjective, I think the flag mirrors look epic on the low body cars, something about the way they accentuate the low stance.

Really lovely looking car.
Only thing I am not keen on is the wing mirrors - are they the OEM design of that era? Can they be switched for the smaller later design, or are those ones actually more effective at seeing behind you?

I can confirm you still can't see anything behind you! (especially as mine is LHD...). You develop an 'awareness' of traffic, rather than a view of it.
