Hi

Thanks for these - they're great! If you click on the thumbnails, then you get full size photos, which are wonderful.

Yes, there is only one silver RHD LP400S, which is this car and has had lots of number plates including WRT176X, SMW53, AGT239W and EHJ152X.

It has been in the UK for many years, and then went back to South Africa 5+ years ago, and believed to be there today and regularly seen and on display there.

hi , I am new here, but stumbled across this thread, and with interest may be able to shed some light on LGF849N.As countachman posted earlier on this thread , that the first time he saw a countach lp400 in the flesh was in Bolton, I too saw this as a new car in 1975, it was the same blue with tan trim , and as my dad knew the owner , he gave me a ride in it, which , as a young 12 year old was something to remember!!.The car lived about 2mins from where we lived, and the number plate is etched on my mind, and I recall it being JYH928N, and the owner had purchased it from Rodney Turner of MALTIN CAR CONCESSIONAIRES.He kept it for 2.5 years, then a Silhouette replaced it, which was yellow, but I believe that is now silver.I think that lgf849n, is one of the very early cars bought into the uk, but I stand to be corrected.!

You are correct. Silhouette 40098 was originally yellow, then silver, now in Australia.

Could I ask how you post full size pics on Pistonheads forum because all I seem able to do is post thumbnails? Step by step instructions would be very useful smile

Looking at your pics against those which are large I can see why in the format, if not what you did to insert it. They are formatted as follows {ignore the !!! which is so that it doesn't show the pic}:
[!!!url][!!!img]http://thumbsnap.com/t/dhJMWXgw.jpg[/img]|http://thumbsnap.com/dhJMWXgw

It has inserted a thumbnail pic ' the /t directory'. The large pictures from others use a '/s directory' instead. So switch the t to an s and you will get the right size pic. E.g.

[!!!img]http://thumbsnap.com/sc/dhJMWXgw.jpg[/img]. Remember Ignore the !!! Which I added to stop it from showing the pic. Correct below:

I've just loaded some of my own pics with the upload tool on this site. When uploading select the 'forum fit' radio button when inserting. See attached:

the silouhette was featured in Throughbred And Classic in july 1978, and was registered KJO840S, but if you go on colin clarkes website and visit gallery 3, it is on there reg SIL5354, But , I have seen this car for sale in the past few years , and think it may well be still in the uk.

Hi Jonathan

I understood the low body referred to the roof and doors and not to the height of the body off the ground. I understand that the distance from the ground to the cills and top arches etc has always been the same. I believe the low body cars are about 1-2'' lower in the roof?

Am I mistaken? If you have had both then presumably you can compare and explain the headroom etc for us. I would be greatly interested in your reply and experience.

Hi Paul, bit off topic but was wondering if your Italian Car and Bike day was on this year and if so what date?
Cheers!

if Rodney Turner ( car salesman to the stars- google him )is still around , I am sure he can tell you a lot about lp400's , as he supplied most of them.i met him on the Lamborghini stand in 1976, when he was manning it, and he had a gold countach , and gold espada, and a red silohette if my memory serves me well !!

NEFOC Thank you for providing clear instructions on how to post full size pics on the forum instead of thumbnails, and it was my mistake when I selected the wrong format in thumbsnap options, I've now made the changes to the code by changing the t to s so hopefully fullsize pics should be shown below:

Robert W, I remember I push-biked all the way from Nottingham to Syston and taking several photographs of the silver RHD Countach LP400S mid-summer in 1980 or 1981 when it was on display in the Cooper Cars showroom in Syston in Leicestershire before it had been assigned any number-plates.

Minister, with regard to the Lamborghini Silhouette, I remember that in the 1980s Carrera Sport owned a yellow Silhouette with a reg plate ending in 666, and also recollect that a guy from Nigeria was driving around like a lunatic in another one, though can't remember the colour of it.

Will have to dig the pics out!

A couple of pics of another black Lamborghini Countach B543 YHV, which I took at the Carrera Sport supercar test-day at Goodwood in 1986.

As a footnote, these 'supercar test days' organised once or twice a year at the Goodwood race circuit by Mike Pullen of Carrera Sport really were quite sensational.
