The Silhouette was discontinued in 1978 and reincarnated as the Jalpa in 1982/83.
The Urraco you followed would have been 15040, the first RHD P250, recently sold to Singapore.
Mike's RHD Silhouette 40098 was later painted silver and is now in Australia.
Thank you for the info, though it is such a shame that so many classic cars are disappearing abroad. I'm not surprised that cars are being exported to Australia because when I was out there a few years ago, even semi-skilled labourers in Perth were earning upwards of $40,000 AU (approx £23,000) due to the mining boom up north. The Urraco you followed would have been 15040, the first RHD P250, recently sold to Singapore.

I could kick myself because I took so few photographs of any other Lamborghini cars at these super-car test days at Goodwood apart from the Countach, due to the fact I had limited rolls of 35mm film with me (which took a maximum of 36 photos per roll). Nowadays we're spoilt rotten with large SD cards quite capable of storing 1000s of pics!
As for memories, I was lucky enough to have blagged a few laps round the Goodwood race-circuit as passenger in the orange Urraco, which was quite spectacular, what with the added oil burning smoke effects from the engine department entering into the cabin which didn't help visibility, and being overtaken on the outside by a Nissan Prairie people carrier being driven by a crazy rally driver. Was a fantastic day out.
As a footnote, if you know the owner of the Urraco then please say thank you to him for the track-day experience. It might not have been the fastest Lamborghini on the track on the day, but nevertheless it was a Lamborghini and that was all that mattered.

How do the V8 Lamo's compare to period V8 Ferrari's like the 328?
The 328 was introduced in 1985 so comparisons are invalidWhat are "V8 Lambos"? The 2.5 litre Urraco was launched in 1973, the 3.0 litre P300 in 1975, the Silhouette in 1976 and the Jalpa in 1982/3. All four are very different. How can they be realistically compared with a single model launched in 1985?

But there was certainly rivalry going on between Ferrari and Lamborghini during those times:-
Ferrari 308 GT4 was launched in 1973, replaced by Mondial 8 in 1980.
308 GTB in 1975, GTS in 1977 - to 1985.
328 - 1985 to 1989.
So each model of these V8 Ferraris and Lamborghinis had a direct rival at mostly the same times...

Hello all,
Please keep up the posts on this thread, as an ex Urraco P300 owner it is good to see all the comments and history being shared.
Actually, I am a Urraco owner again, P250s #15858 awaiting a winter recommissioning / engine overhaul - if anyone has any history, photos or stories to share I would be very grateful.
Will keep you updated on progress.

Simon
