Hi, not sure, I may but then I always like to see cars before they have had paintwork, so you can see exactly what the condition is really like. I shall seek the auctioneers opinion first I guess.
Please let us know how you get on with the Auctioneers valuation. Does anybody know how many RHD Jalpa are in the UK?

replacement of the throttle cable that had frayed and then snapped. The new one has made a big difference in terms of responsiveness.

Interesting, I had the same thing happen though it didn't actually snap.
As you say, much better after it's been replaced.
The old one was such a mess that Colin Clarke left it in a bag for me in the car.

Since I'd had the car I'd noticed the response wasn't as lively as the others I have but put it down to "just one of those things". Then it snapped, luckily whilst backing out of the garage.

I did the work with my Dad so got to see first-hand the condition of the cable and why it had worn so badly. It ran through some protective tubing but the cable itself had stretched over the years (so dampening throttle response) and eventually it had started rubbing on some exposed metal until it began to fray and eventually snap. We ended up running an excellent cable from Venhill alongside the tubing and the difference was remarkable. It was a lot of work but worth every hour.

How odd, mine did exactly that in 1997 and again last year, I knew the signs the second time though. Throttle seems to get stiffer and stiffer and then occasionally it stuck down when i pumped it before turning the engine over. Hello i thought, i bet that cables fraying again. Its a crap design as water ingress through the plastic ends and outer coating over time start to rust the cable and then it goes. Night and day difference once changed though.

Yep, exactly. These things are to be expected of such a limited run car of that era though. It's the only trouble I've ever had with mine and, in the grand scheme of things, running a wire one end of the car to the other is a long way from being a supercar horror story! Solid as a rock otherwise.

Well, the auctioneer has been out and I was pleasantly surprised by his valuation of 75/78k. Apparently the market is good for classic Lamborghinis unlike 1980`s 911`s, ferraris of the same age and etypes generally, that have been flooding the market.

The auctioneers comments on the paint were, leave it, its original, people would rather see exactly what its like, rather than a tarted up for auction car, so thats exactly what I am going to do.

So its booked in for sale at Brightwells in June at the Bicester sale. Tremendous thanks once again to everyone for all the input on the forum, cheers chaps/

I think they were that new, then dropped to 19/20k before they started to rise.

Bought mine in 1987 - £20k
1989 Tom Hartley offed me £60k cash.
1991 - until relatively recently it was a £20k car
(Though I was offered £10k on a potential Countach trade in in the 90s. I didn't trade it in. But Anniversary Countaches were £35k in those days, so probably about right?)

Thank you for letting us know the Auctioneers opinion.
I look forward to seeing what it makes.
Good luck with the sale.

Used to often drive passed a stunning black one parked just off Kings Rd back in the mid-nineties.

Very cool.

Might Doug DeMuro's review help?

Possibly not.

I turned one down at £11k. Trader named Colin (Heaney?) told me I'd never get shot of it once I bought it, so I dropped out. Black-black RHD FWIW.

Ended up with a 308 QV that I later sold for a profit, so all good. But i did like the sound the Jalpa made...

Does anyone know the result of the auction for this Jalpa? I cannot find it amongst the results for June 24th. Was it withdrawn?

I think I remember seeing that it didn't sell but no more information than that - whether it failed to hit a reserve or was simply withdrawn pre-auction.

I checked the Auctioneers site and could not find the car listed, although it can still be found on Car and classic!

I am guessing that it did not make it to the auction................I was interested to find out the value of the car. The £109K car has been on sale for months with no takers. I was hoping that this Jalpa would give an indication of the current market.

Number 48 here? https://www.brightwells.com/classic-motoring/gener...

The 308GTB at the auction made good money. If that was my Jalpa I would have been tempted to avoid going against it.
