Congrats shmee ... look forward to some in depth ownership vids.

Have to say that like you, my love for the p1 and proximity to the factory has got me really interested too. Definitely top of the shortlist.

Nice spot - The P1 is growing on me - Especially in deep purple.

Out of curiosity - what are the 2 small silver patches either side of the exhaust?

Love the wrap - saw progress photos on Facebook. Suits the car well. thumbup

Ah, looks like part of the heat shielding/general exhaust - the first photo looked like they were on the outside of the mesh.

Congrats on the new car, stunning. I hope there are plans to get it sounding nice and loud - I enjoyed spotting you in the R8 in Knightsbridge in the Summer, sounded amazing!

Is it safe to assume that putting 15k miles on an R8 in a year means you take a bit of a bath in terms of residuals or did you manage to get away without it costing you too much? (Not asking for detailed numbers!)

I took a horrible bath on it as an outright cost, but far less per mile than had I only driven it 5k miles in the year or something. These cars depreciate and they have to be bought with that in mind whatever the usage is, the sooner you plan on changing it the more so as most of the 'loss' is the markup when you buy it and the markdown when selling.

Excellent choice Shmee. I must say I was never impressed with the R8. After a single tank I was happy to swap back into a 430 at the next fuel stop whilst on a run to Le Mans. The McLaren is something else. Probably too capable for UK roads but fab on a euro blast.

Hope to see you about in 2014.

I had a couple of unfortunate convertible incidents recently that have put me off for a bit
Sorry to hear that. What happened? I presume some nasty people/ comments?
For one the roof got jammed on the R8 just before a trip to Paris and the dealer messed him around a bit I think.

That was one, but not quite what I meant. Technical issues can occur on any of our cars, regardless.

More interactions with members of the public - only in London though for what it's worth. The public of Paris and Monaco are vastly more friendly.

Fair enough, I'd hoped that wouldn't be the case but to be expected unfortunately.

Jealousy comments or worse?
I've read on here people have got stuff thrown at them, makes me feel rather vulnerable driving around cities with roof off.

The throwing variety, far too many times.

Doesn't surprise anyone in the UK with our jealous culture of anyone doing well.

Sadly it's pandemic in this country. Somebody does alright for themselves and they're branded as 'lucky bds' or similar. It doesn't occur to them that some people actually work damn bloody hard. It's absolutely disgraceful.

Anyway, stunning colour, and enjoy in good health. I know I would!

Presumably some negative reaction from the public?

Congrats on the new motor. The 12C looks stunning in that colour.
Possibly didn't like some bloke he didn't know wandering round his car whilst at red lights taking pics with the roof down...

Lovely car.
