Is that not just for the sealed bid auctions, for live auction a pre registered bid should go for the lowest price bid, if no bids then the reserve, if not that is pretty dodgy.
It was a live auction. I was on the phone waiting for my lot to come up and could hear the "bidding" going on in the background. I had the catalog in front of me so knew what the reserves were. I could hear the auctioneer asking around the room and then saying he had £x on a paper bid but the reserve was less than £x. It happened at least three times whilst I was waiting.

I saw that exact thing on a TV show that was filming an auction (either house or antiques or something of that TV-ilk), so not surprised. Seems a bit naughty to me.

Last round of the auction finishing just now.

Some real bargains went through. I think 996RS went through for a around £10k + fees which I think is a great plate and a reasonable price given the current and future value of the vehicle.

Also 964RS which I predict may just exceed the estimate of £2400, given the current hysteria over any 911 old enough to need an MOT.
