Otherwise, the 12C makes a very compelling case. It will also always be the first one. Does that have significance? Maybe in 20 years.
I could opt to upgrade to a 650 but cannot stand the front end, I've tried but am simply not warming to it at all. I'm not worried by the driving improvements, I don't believe them to be significant enough. If the depreciation is an issue for you, the 12C is the best choice (and by far the best looking!!)

12C is great value and will lose less I'm sure but will always underpin 650S as well, so everybody is a winner lol
Ok £80k is extreme but comparing like for like on used ones the gap is only £40k for at least a year newer car.
Given it has ceramics as standard and all the other improvements that is definitely worth it IMHO.
Looks are definitely subjective but the one thing I always thought was plain with the 12 C was the front end and headlights. They don't offend me but they are just too conservative and understated IMHO. McLaren played very safe there and they will probably age better for that.
On the other hand I just love the new 650S front end. Its gorgeous and will always be associated with the P1 which isn't a bad car or bad thing for 650S. Really does make the car look like the batmobile and stunning.
Anyway I'm getting carried away with something I probably can't afford at this point of time unless I sell my Scuderia lol
