Ramping up the search for a 12C and have a good idea of what's out there on the market (both PH and Dealer) and notice that the below has been around for a while - has anyone been to see it/know's it's history? Seems well spec'd, if a little over the mileage I'd ideally like to get?

If there's nothing wrong with that car, it is amazing value. Can't think there is anything wrong with it because Romans have a top reputation.

The only issue for me would be the colour - I don't like VO. Since you wouldn't have bothered posting if that applied to you, then I'm assuming you're happy with that.

10,000 miles is nothing - I've done that in one year of owning mine, couldn't keep out of it during the summer! The amount of carbon on that car is very impressive and it would have been expensive when it rolled out of the showroom.

Basically, if you like the colour and if you like the car (you should) that seems like decent value to me.

Saw it last week, lovely condition & sounded lovely. Needs parking sensors as it's not the easiest car to see out of!
The silver one at Rybrook looks good, however I'm still not sure on 12c or 458!

Looks like it has the MSO alcantara wheel as well which is a rather nice (and bloody expensive) option to fit....

Can't honestly believe you thought 10k miles for a 2011 car was high... but otherwise would advise making sure the car is fully serviced and has at least a year extra of the extended warranty (from the factory by way of whoever who does the aston/bentley extended one) as 2011 cars will be running out of manufacturer warranty.

As above really. Good spec nice looking car if you like Volcano Orange. 10,000 miles for a 3 year own McLaren is nothing, maybe different if a Ferrari but even then its hardly been around the world.

Its a hell of a lot of car for the money and done most of its depreciation

Just missing the Carbon Brakes - which appear as rare as hen's teeth...

Mileage wise, I'm just looking to start on low mileage, as I'm pretty sure I'm going to put a fair few on it in 2015 biggrin

Only others I'm looking into are these:

Silver is quite growing on me & is a good spec:

Or this, which has the lot on it (bar Carbon Brakes), just not sure if white suits the 12C?

Duggan,

what about that one ? 2012 car in VO. It is missing the sports-exhaust and has basic wheels but it is a 2012 car below 120k with decent mileage of 8k.

Definately the silver over the white... But the Orange over the silver! wink Would you considder retro fitting the Carbon brakes if the car was bought for less?

Seriously???? wow, v pricey. I think a Ferrari retro fit is about £10K, the same as ticking the option box if not standard...

What's the advantage of a 2012 car over a 2011 (bar the age) - does it get IRIS 2?

Thanks.

This has been covered here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

2011 cars were the very first customer cars and as you can image many improvements have been gradually rolled out and "minor" issues sorted. From what You do not get IRIS 2 with any 12C as standard... It is always an optional extra.

Swipe doors
Front lifter (only late 2012 models)
Paint quality is much improved
Steering wheel paddle shift (less hard to pull - a few have been replaced under warranty I understand)
Radio antenna position (so you can get actual reception...)

IRIS 2 is optional for all and currently cost 3k for the basic model. If you want IAB or anything more fancy it goes up quickly.
Also be aware that the 3k upgrade for IRIS2 is TEMPORARY. After 31st December, the cost will go up to 8k.... Which will bring the value of IRIS 2 equiped car up.

The 2012 cars have also benefitted from the learnings of 2011 cars and are better put together. As you would expect for a very brand new car going into volume production. My hat off to McLaren for going through this process so quickly.
Yes, there are still small teething issues on all cars like rear lights cracking.
Also when looking at 2011 cars, you have to check what warranty cover you get. McLaren approved cars will come with extented warranty from McLaren but independant cars or private cars might come with nothing or a third party cover.... Which is not the same....

£10,450 fitted if you haggle and get a concession from Ferrari Northern Europe.

I had it done this time last year.

I am guessing the upgrade cost as quoted means a full refit. That means new calipers (very expensive), discs (even more expensive) and cooling ducts. Personally the brake feel of the 12c on ceramics is not good enough (the 650 is miles better in this respect) so I would stay with the iron brakes personally. Plus on track the brake steer can and does eat through the rear brakes pretty bloody fast.

But it means your wheels get dirty without Carbon - what good is that! biggrin

Get them in stealth grey and you'll never see the brake dust... rather a lot cheaper than going the ceramic route!
