Congratulations - I saw you picking her up this morning - you were busy with Ian doing the handover so I didn't want to interupt. She looks lovely.
Enjoy!

Nice car, vr looks good in most light conditions as well unlike volcano orange which is great in bright sunlight but terrible in poor light. Unusually decent day to have picked it up too for december!

Would be interested to see what you think of the 12c vs the 991gt3 ( which i think you have?)

In the 3 hours I spent in the car yesterday the differences are massive. The 12c is silly fast & a fair bit more comfortable in 'comfort' setting, I would also say the interior is more special/bespoke than the GT3 but probably not as well screwed together (time will tell!)

The IRIS 2 system seems ok but not as good as PCM.

The noise is ok but no match for the GT3!

The doors are cool however I'm now on a diet!

As it will be a weekend sort of car I suppose I wanted something more special, the GT3 while being an 'event' to drive wasn't an 'event' to be in, if that makes any sense!!

Makes perfect sense. GT3 is an epic drivers car and great value for money but at end of the day its another Porsche and a sports cars not a supercar.
Sorry Porsche owners but hopefully you won't be reading this section anyway lol

Volcano red doesn't photo well regardless of light conditions. You never get the full shine and depth of paint and can look quite burgundy at times.
I had the same problem photographing my Rosso Mars Performante which always looked orangey.

I think pearlescent paints have to be seen by the naked eye. I'm guessing the volcanic orange looks a bit brown in poor light ?

interesting that thanks. Have to admit I never thought the PCM3 was very good but i came from iris1 so iris2 made a huge difference heh. Agreed on the noise, the 12c makes a lot of it especially on the sports exhaust but it is merely that, loud and not quite as good on the ear as the gt3.

Just as a car to drive, which one do you think you would ultimately prefer? Might be easier to answer this after a bit more seat time though!

Yeah brown indeed in artificial/poor light. Looks pretty nasty truth be told and i really was disppointed by that colour at launch when i first saw the car at mtc back in 2010. Couldn't later believe how good it looked under strong sunlight!

Do you mean the ride was to harsh or it doesn't look like a supercar?

No, I mean that when driving the GT3 & not'on it' you could be in any modern Porsche.

Different league.

The cheapest supercar McLaren to what is almost the most expensive sportscar from Porsche (bar the 918 - now that would feel super special).

I agree the MP4 is rather special, but the GT3 is stonking value for money and punches way beyond its price. But then the GT3 has always done that.

Trust me, if I could have kept the GT3, I would have. Brilliant car for the money.

Would be interested to hear the deals on offer/done - I'm in the middle of negotiations and have been offered 6k off a 12 coupe.

Needs a few options retro fitted and hence want to see what's been thrown in on top of that? Looks to be IRIS II and a service from the thread?

Thanks Ferdi. Your 12C is looking rather nice too.

Mb1, I'm contemplating it. I had a drive in one a couple of months ago and was suitably impressed. Last week, I tried an SLS AMG and that also blew me away. I need to sell the Diablo first and see what turns up...

Really depends on what the asking price is, I think a 12 coupe with under 10k miles, sports exhaust, 1yr warranty & IRIS II fitted should be 120K max.

Trouble is I'm told IRIS II is going up to 6/7k in the new year, that will make it hard for dealers to 'throw it in' & take a chunk off the asking price!

....wishful thinking. I haven't seen a 2012 car for less than £120k, never mind with IRIS 2 and sports exhaust.

I don't think so, especially at this time of year, bid hard, offer a deposit immediately & you could be pleasantly surprised wink

Usually the prices bounce back if anything in my experience of any supercar buying. Its not your usual run of the mill monthly depreciation on these cars but seems to be big chunks in a 3-6 month window. Buy right sell right you can be ok but buy wrong sell wrong and you can kiss goodbye to £20k quite easily

Find a dealer with a long in the tooth stock unit in December and yes there is always a deal to be had if they need to move it on especially for financial year end but come January/February they don't have the same motivation to move it on at a potential loss and rather sit on it until the market comes to the car.

Have bought several cars going into the 4th quarter and moved them on in the summer breaking even or making a small profit. I guess the general upturn in the niche supercar market has negated the buy at retail / sell at trade differential and I have been lucky.

Not that many 12 C spiders on the market and once the initial 650s press cars are sold I think this will also help firm up the prices. If you don't mind an ex press car ( presumably well maintained and reconditioned for sale )they seem great value for money
