I coated the exposed edges of the arches with three coats of clear "Plasti-dip" paint. You can't notice it, it has protected the arches and is easy to peel off and replace. Best bit, it cost less that £20 all in :-)
Ok cool. Sounds worth a shot. I've settled with applying CQuartzUK ceramic coating on the car which is as hard as diamonds. Ok it won't stop a big stone chip but it affords a little more protection than nothing.
Having seen more examples of the film finish I just could not live with the distortion to looks and finish. It would actually annoy me more than a chip with my OCD cleaning regime

Sounds good, do you know where you can get plasti dip applied? I've looked on line and it is suggested that you apply 7 coats for protection. Aerosols are OK for small areas but not large areas such as the bonnet.
Thanks

I had my new 650 venture shielded and that cost £2600 all in for the whole front(including A pillars), areas around the turning vanes, underside of the doors and area infront of the rear wheels. This was done before I collected the new car and was arranged by Mclaren London. I think this is essential as those areas are very prone to chipping... especially important if you have lots of carbon.
Are you happy with it mp? Can you see where it is cut in?
I pick mine up from Mclaren London in a month and they've offered me the same, it'll be that, Topaz or just leave it as it is for a while. I don't know enough about this to make a decision and there are differing opinions on this thread.

I wouldn't get anything applied until you are sure the paint finish is A1 - you will be locking in the imperfections. Topaz will detail it first.

I think it is essential... There were a couple of areas that needed tidying up shortly after it was done but this was sorted quickly and free of charge. Unless you look very closely it is unnoticeable. Some areas such as under the doors and around the turning vanes need to be protected.
