Interesting that there is no Exterior Carbon Pack 2 for the 540 on there! On a positive, there looks to be a massive rear storage deck behind the seats.

Edit - looks like there is no Security Pack for the 540 either. It will be interesting to get a 540 price list (will ask if I get to McLaren Brum tomorrow) as it may be there is more to the difference between 540 and 570 than first thought in terms of extras.

I'm up in Knowle tomorrow which is 4 miles from McLaren Birmingham. I'll pop in for a quick chat if possible so does anyone have any recommendations of good people to talk to (although it may be a skeleton team in on a Saturday)?

I think they operate half day tomorrow meaning they will probably be closed by 1pm. Everyone is thoroughly pleasant but I spoke with and dealt with Ian when I was there

How low is it? If it's the same as a 650 then a lifter would be essential and that's not a cheap option.

Just called - they are open till around 3pm. Lady on phone passed my details on to Ian Groves who is the McLaren Brand Manager and is in tomorrow.

Got a cayman R but have my eye on a base spec 540C, its within range.
Sports exhaust and ultralight rims, anything else I need? Dont give a flying about carbon bits tbh, its just for show.

Carbon fiber interior is a must have at resale time. It will have a significant impact on your resale value.
Current cars that do not have it stay for ages advertised and get discounted massively.
Carbon fiber for the exterior bits is not that important and very exposed and fragile anyway.

It would be very nice but kidding myself regards the 126k, they seem to charge for silly things that you wouldn't even think of, so even poverty spec, looks to me that anything other than white, blue, or grey is either 1200 or 3k extra, 3k for the exhaust, 3k for super light alloys, cover 500, tracker 600 which I guess insurance will insist on, and looking at pictures is the black vent panel on side and front splitter part of the 5k carbon pack ? Are they both white or body colour if no carbon pack ?

5 grand to have a few panels to look at? I spec the car for myself not the next owner....

It'll come down to options. If you want options, the 570S is really the only choice.

But surely a poverty spec 540C must be a rock solid investment?

No it doesn't. There are not 2 exterior carbon packs ala 570!
