Is there anything particular to the 12C that would make it preferable to the 650S? i.e. would the prices of 12C ever become more than the 650S (or indeed further future updates)?
Some people (me included) prefer the look of the 12C. It's also supposed to ride better and be easier to drive but I haven't driven a 650s so others may have a more accurate opinion. Also the 12C was made without compromise to establish the brand and there are only 280 rhd in the uk and that will only go down as the car is out of production.

You also need to understand that the negative press at the launch has not been echoed by the owners who's cars have all been updated (for free) and all the owners seem to love their cars. There is hardly any negativity regarding McLaren on any forums for the 12C or 650S. Both are great cars and as long as they remain reliable and cherished then why would they depreciate very much? Also we all know they cost £1500 to service and £3500 to warranty a year. That's a pretty stable known expenditure that most owners will corroborate and apart from usual consumables that's it.

280 UK 12c's is way too few cars. I am very sure there are at least 400 if not 500 UK cars.

The 12c has price (primarily as let's face it most of the excitement here over the 12c recently is mainly due to low prices relative to most other comparable cars and the perception the prices are not continung to fall as before) and looks (subjective) going for it over a 650. Driving wise they are different but again not vastly so.
