Clearly not trying hard enough on the bike then!
Lets try and put some clarity on this I organise drive outs, the cars that come out are the likes of Porsche Turbo's,Lambo PET,Scud,Aston,360,DBS,650s,TVR's,R8's F430,Cobra,Dodge Viper and many more We have regular meets and we try and select challenging roads opposed to long boring roads, the last run out took us over the A69 we did approx 300 miles. We went past many bikers who tried to keep up with me,the bandit and the pet, they tried to overtake when the opportunity presented itself yet didnt have the minerals/pace or the skill set to overcome their fears
So maybe your a riding God if so do please join us on our next day out
This said i take my hat off to bikers for they are the ultimate warriors of road, race, and track

Oh my word!! Talk about stirring up a hornets' nest! It would need almost as much salt as our council stockpiled last summer to produce enough pinches to quieten things down here!! So funny. As well as the MV, I also used to ride a Norton Commando MkIII, Triumph T160 Trident, Ducati 900SS, Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1, Laverda 120 Jota, Ducati 851 AND a Harley Road King, all of which I'd been lucky enough to buy on ebay and restore in my 4th childhood. They were all completely different from one another, but each was enormous fun in its own way. Same's true with a 458 Speciale, Huracan or 650S. None is perfect, all have their charm. A text equivalent of a 60/70s mods and rockers outing isn't likely to change anyone on here's views too soon, so let's live and let live, but man all that salt should make the forum a real slug-free zone!
12C is faster than an F12 even at higher speeds.
i imagine the 650 would easily dust the F12.
have driven a friend's 488; it's 60-130mph time is identical to this (stock) 12C.

Had the chance to drive in convoy with a Challenge Stradale in the week, and compare the noise within and without , from behind as well.
And lets be clear , compared to the Ferrari the 650 is a mouse but then again so would just about anything else be too.
And after a few hours it gets wearing.
And the 650 is of course massively quicker in every way across the ground but when you want to dial it down , put the roof down and cruise home it does that to.

With much better suspension/ride quality, and no scuttle shake with the roof down! And lets be clear , compared to the Ferrari the 650 is a mouse but then again so would just about anything else be too.

Shouldn't a 488 be compared to a 675lt?
I don't understand why people come out and say "ITS NOT FAIR 650S vs 458!! - THEY SHOULD COMPARE 650S to 488!" which is totally unfair given that the 650s is not McLarens newest car either.
Would the 458 Speciale vs 650S not be a more appropriate comparison?I don't understand why people come out and say "ITS NOT FAIR 650S vs 458!! - THEY SHOULD COMPARE 650S to 488!" which is totally unfair given that the 650s is not McLarens newest car either.

In performance terms the speciale is closer to the McLaren 650s but still outdone despite it being a stripped out racer version which means its actually competing against 675LT which is in another league again. With the 2 brands out of sync in terms of model changes you can never get a like for like and I don't expect Ferrari would really welcome it either

Head to head 650 vs Speciale in our recent outing was not close, in real terms road conditions, rolling in gear acceleration especially at higher speeds the Mac totally monsters the Speciale
There is no doubt the McLaren 650S has a good performance advantage over Ferrari 458 vanilla or speciale version even so therefore the only comparison can be drawn against the newer model 488.I gather even given the 2 year newer model advantage for ferrari this is very close but given the price premium ( + 40% circa £70k )and waiting list surely the McLaren is the better buy.
Surely no one buys a car over another in this sector purely because it's faster than another whether it's on the public road or track....? the 650 on a roughly equivalent tyre to a cup2 definitely is the faster car than the speciale but I don't see the relevance of that. Or whether a 650 is slower than a 488 for that matter.

Your'e quite right ST because in reality I'd have a lot of difficulty saying the Mac is better, frankly the level of performance of everything from a GT4 upwards is overkill. The Ferrari was brilliant and I preferred its noise , shift paddles , driver modes and one or two other areas. I suspect the 675LT has the Spec covered in every way though.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
