Is it just me or does everyone and their mom have a GT4 these days? I do wonder how many of these will be built.
I suspect forum goers represent most of them! It was never intended as a limited run car, but from what I understand, only around 150-200 will be built.

I am just amazed someone can be so thick. You were absolutely insistent that he was talking st on something you had not the faintest clue about.
...except that to conclude super cars cost less to own than normal cars is very misleading and in fact Russell996 is a poster who has quite a lot more than a clue, having owned a number. I have also owned many super cars, including McLaren, and I can tell you that depreciation is almost always a big issue. Some cars do well, but the 12C and 650 are not among them. McLaren's recent history has been littered with heavy discounts and stories from customers of heavy heavy depreciation.

Clearly, in Tim's case there may be other reasons why his experience was a little more favourable, however, that is not the norm.

In the main, super cars tend to perform well on a percentage basis, but since they cost four to five times as much as normal cars, that still leaves them costing much more to own in outright £s. And that's as it should be. They are very very good.

That's not what Shmee said. He used a specific example. He did by no way imply that it is the norm.
Russel had no idea what Shmee bought and sold his cars for but yet was able to make the statement 'completely untrue'. In this case, he was completely clueless. I hope this helps your miss understanding of this simple statement.

I love PH - we're meant to all be car lovers - but the moment someone gets a nice car it's seen as an opportunity to slam them for how they got it. Schmee has done more than necessary to prove himself as not only a petrolhead but a nice guy - beyond that just leave the guy alone.

I applaud the chap - anyone (however they decide to pay for cars like his) who works hard enough to have a nice car, I see an M3 and I generally think well done/petrol head choice. I think some on here paint a far too negative image, and I think its completely unfair on Tim. Ive not personally met him but have a few friends that have, and all say he's lovely, his passion is infectious and clearly quite a knowledgeable chap.

Im Loving his colour choices (I'm a big blue fan), and the GT4 was a big surprise on top of the FF and 675 :O biggrindriving
I think the FF is the only vehicle thats going to cost him money (after initial outlay for vehicles), I think both the GT4 and 675lt will be sold for a good profit when he eventually decides to move them on! Great man maths for tim - the appreciation of the other two cars should offset the depreciation on the FF and more (unsure how much the FF will depreciate from say £160k) I cant imagine them dipping below 140/150k?

I can't wait to see more content on the 3 and I really hope Tim tracks the GT4 A bit (and if he wants get professional tuition) as I recon GT4 track videos will be great biggrin .... I just wish I could afford one :'(

Bravo Tim, Bravo!!!

I think a couple of you guys are being a bit harsh on Russel he made a point he could well have been right Shmee said he wasnt and he apologised end of.
I think there are a few on here that have lost the amount Russel claims though.

I don't think so. Russel came away with statement that shmee's words were 'untrue'...

I can assure you No one will be getting big discounts on used 650S at sub £200k. There is simply no margin in it for the dealer at these levels but they are great buys versus list price having taken a huge depreciation by the 1st owner

Stolen from Fb. Shmee - you're one lucky mofo!
Yellow callipers and that would be perfect.

Is the performance of this not going to feel a bit 'thin' after driving the LT?

Writing this at a lunch stop, and my word the GT4 is epic! The cornering ability and involvement on roads like the Route Napoleon is just brilliant, what a car!

At times I was thinking how much faster I'd be going in the LT but that doesn't detract at all from how special the GT4 is.

Good stuff.

I drove my old Cayman S on the Route Napoleon and it was brilliant so the GT4 must be epic

I did notice young Timothy using a dab of oppo on his 570 review video this week, so he's not totally unfamiliar with the sideways arts.

The whole YouTube/Vlogging concept is still very much in its infancy, so fair play to chaps like Shmee and SaabKyle for building an audience for themselves.

I'm sure all the traditional motoring journos are missing a trick by not putting out more informal behind the scenes videos - evo have a few 'diaries' episodes, but not enough, especially as they could use them to plug their latest magazine issues.

haha, they look the cast of Made In Chelsea smile

I met Tim briefly a couple of years back at an Audi day when he had his R8. Much like you'd expect from the videos, he's a very polite and quite humble person, and as a person there's not much to dislike about him to be honest

All credit to him though. whether you like like him or hate him, he's living a nice life

I am sorry to have to break the news to you LamboRambo, but it seems that people have been (one of them is Shmee) getting them for under £200k - even 10 months ago!

Shmee has stated that he lost "nothing like £30k" on his recently sold Kermit Green 650s Spider, which he must have netted around £170k after dealer commission and and a bit of discount. So he must have paid £195k or less for it, even though according to Russell it was advertised for £224k.

And this was 10 months ago...yikes

I am going to upset the balance by saying nobody will be able to work out what I paid or how it equates to anything because it was a triple car transaction.

That sounds a bit like creative accounting...
