These modern day mclarens have damn ugly front ends.

And beyond that says it's subjective is lying to themselves.

Tempting, what's delivery like?
I'm aiming for June onwards, got a 2nd child due in May so it's nowhere near the top of my to do list.

Hoping to get over to McLaren London in the next couple of weeks for a look.

Wouldn't a well speced 12C be a better bet if you aren't planning to keep it long term?

These have to be the performance bargain of the moment and I can't see them losing much if at all.

Some people like to buy new but yes I agree with you re 12C and raise you with a delivery mileage 650S also being the bargain of the moment for the former people who don't want a 3 year old no warranty car.
12C will always underpin the rarer and better 650s IMHO

Agreed but the £50K price difference between 12C and 650s is something to think about!

Yes granted but well worth it IMHO as there is £20k in upgraded spec alone newer model with longer warranty

True, but by 2019 the price difference will be only £10k...

Those that love a car and plan to purchase accept there will likely be a downside and get on with it. why should anyone else care??

I'm going into a 675LT with my eyes fully open to the depreciation suffered by earlier cars but after my drive of a pre-production car I don't care, it was incredible and they are building truly awesome cars now. I wasn't a fan of McLaren until early last year but now with the quality of cars being produced it won't take long for the brand to catch up with others or surpass some of the top dogs.

Enjoy the 570 those of you who are getting them!

Would be nice to see / hear from people who are getting 570s.
There should quite a few by now ? But we seem to see a lot of people electing for 12cs instead.....
So, whos got one then ? Anyone ?

I was nearly enticed by a 570s......spent some time with Ian at McLaren Birmingham having a look round their demo 570s. Once I started looking at the options list, some of the cost were eye watering and of course you feel like you need most of them! My £143k base cost was easily well over £170k quite quickly. The previous depreciation curves of the 12c and 650s led me to believe the 570s may do the same. Also, the interior feels a bit low rent, and has less power than a 12c and no active aero. It's a newer car but I wasn't sure where they were going to settle price wise in comparison to a 12c. Therefore I opted to mitigate my losses and "settle" for a 12c which should hopefully only lose bearable amounts over the next year or two....

I ordered one. It's due any moment now. Never "got" the looks of the 12C (In fact I really didn't like it, although it's very slowly starting to grow on me). 650S was better but again just didn't "get" it.

Loved the looks of the 570 as soon as I saw it. Having driven it, it sounds much better than the 12C & 650S.

As for options, most cars appear to be fairly highly spec'd. When I was down at the factory most of the 570s I saw had the carbon exterior packs (which are I'll concede eye wateringly expensive).

Saw and drove one for the first time this Friday at Ascot.

Nice car, will kill R8 and Porsche 911 sales but not as classy or brutal as the 650S. Interior looks a little bit cheaper in comparison and I definitely missed the hydraulic suspension and active aero on braking TBH.
Bearing in mind a full spec 570S spider when its available will be more money than my 2 year old used 650S spider there is no way I would downgrade and spend more money

Strange how it looks smaller but is actually bigger

I have one due in the next week or so and it's been a long time since I've been this excited about a new car purchase. Can't wait!

Regarding spec - I only went for carbon mirrors and left the other carbon bits but it still came in at 165k.
As much as it would have been nice to have the full exterior carbon I don't think spending the extra 18k would improve my enjoyment of the car.

I called in at Ascot on Saturday to take a look at the 570S and a couple of second hand 650S. No one was available to talk to as they were predictably busy - still waiting for a call back...

I think on balance I would probably go second hand 650S over the 570S.

Had a call back from Steve at McLaren Ascot today - he was very helpful and informative.

Weighing up my options...

Hi guys

New to this forum as I'm a ferrari owner and have been researching the 570S and considering swapping brands. My cars a low miles 612 One to One, a lovely car and appreciating asset but on researching the 570S believe it's the best pound for pound car available right now.

So I've been on to the McClaren configurator, no prices stated, you have to contact the dealer to send you a pdf. Prices for options on this car are mind bendingly high and therein lies the problem. At £143k it's a bargain but you need to spend in excess of £175k to make the car stunning.

Further there is a convertible due out in 2017 approximately an additional £20k and this is the car I'd hold out for. However at £195k I'm now considering a used F12 which is in a different league. Keep away from the 570s options list, save yourself a load of money and enjoy what I believe is one hell of a car. This vehicle is a game changer and I'm so tempted.

No different to buying a new Ferrari though surely?
