Updated list then...

Recent 12C Purchases

Selon - Silver 12C Coupe
Sarnie - McLaren Orange 12C Coupe
SlartiF430 - Black 12C Coupe
Cockernee - Volcano Red 12C Coupe
Bispal - White 12C Coupe
Dave R D - Carbon Black 12C Coupe
Dave Sums - Papaya Orange 12C Coupe
V8FSI - Volcano Orange 12C Coupe
100 Ian - Graphite Grey 12C Spider
Wilmslow Boy - Carbon Black 12C Spider

Recent 650S Purchases

OllieW - Black 650S Spider
Ballistic - Tarocco Orange 650S Spider

The benefit of compiling this list is understanding that my decision to go down the 12C route has not been a rash one, I have the reassurance of knowing that other smart individuals have made the same choice, and that (in the words of Mr Clarkson) is a good thing!

Hopefully anyone else pondering about doing the same will draw inspiration!

Remember - tag your photos this year #mclarencrew
.... You can add me to to the Newbie list too! Been tracking 12c prices for quite some time and letting the looks grow on me quite considerbly until I just couldn't hold off any longer. Took the plunge just before New Year, swapping my R8 V10 spyder for the McLaren Orange car that was up in Harrogate. Great car, great spec, and great price! Loving the ownership experience so far, just need the Yorkshire torrential rain to stop! smile

There may well be another member soon.

Barchetta Boy has hinted on another thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... that he may have put a deposit down!

I don't collect mine until Monday and i'm already worried the're becoming a bit common (only joking, 1st World problem if ever there was one!)

Looks really great. Lovely colour and a good spec on the car IIRC.
Hope it goes well for you. Enjoy the drive. Avoid the speed cameras and stopping in box junctions! Picked up a fine or two when I headed out that way last summer!

Hey Perseus, as someone who has an R8 V10 manual at the moment, how'd you find the 12c compared to it?

I'm supposed to be looking for an Aston but every day another new 12c appears on Auto Trader and they're getting tempting. Need to test drive one... smile

I drove that one, it's a great car and Romans are really nice people. I just decided I wanted the warranty in the end so bought through McLaren. The Romans car has loads of carbon and a sports exhaust, it's a good price with the low miles. I picked up my car today, more below :-)

Congrats chaps, I wondered who bought that orange one at GK, they also had a silver one at the same time I remember. Two more for the list following shortly...

Well I just picked up my new (to me) White 12C coupe from Rybrook McLaren Birmingham. Just driven home 120 miles, mostly on the M40 and a big jam on the M25 but what a car! Absolutely love it! Such a quiet comfortable motorway car in normal and an animal in sport! It's just the best car ever!

Everything works, the sat nav, radio, phone no problems at all. Perhaps it's just me but this car has a few paint issues too but Rybook are going to pick it up in a few weeks and trailer it back to address the issues, which is great as it will also mean a couple of stone chips will be sprayed away.

I decided to go for an additional 2nd year warranty as it's cheaper when you buy the car, so the second year cost me £2,800 and it's transferrable in a private sale, but not to a dealer, you loose it!

The iris decided to take me down a muddy farm track, I managed to do a 12 point turn before it got too drastic, I think you can change the road preferences in the menu.

Most amazingly I averaged 28 mpg on the way home! Couldn't believe it that's about the same as my 996 targa and my mk1 mk5... It's not like the Porsche people actually stop and flash you out of junctions, the public seem to love the car.

So glad I took the plunge, can't wait for some driving adventures. Will post some pics soon

I saw both cars at GC Motors, the silver was dull in my opinion and wasn't keen on the painted bits on the other one.

I still have to take issue with one thing - what is wrong with a 570S straight out of the box at £143k? It looks great, it has nice seats, it has carbon ceramic brakes. I would also say that the 12C and the 570S are the best looking of the McLarens to date.

Cos you are paying more to get less. And it's not 143k properly specced, it's 170k.
