Fu**ing hell Rambo you're a stuck record!
Just because people are preferring a 570 over your 650. - Its a personal thing, I have 3 friends that have driven the 570 and a 488 and one had driven a 650 as well. ALL preferred the 570 and said it sounded the best of those 3 too!!!

Its got less power on paper and hasn't got the trick suspension but to some the new chassis is lighter on its feet and more fun. The cabin feels newer and better put together imo too.
IMO the 570 looks a lot better too than a standard 650s (but thats obviously a very subjective thing)!!!
And I think the 488 sounds best. So there we go - horses for courses. Who cares? Only me.

Exactly, and that is all that matters.

Your opinion, your money. You spend it on what you want - would be incredibly boring if we all felt the same about cars biggrin
Everyone wants/looks for different things out of a car anyway driving

Have you got a 488 on order? smile

Chris Harris has a great video on the 570S comparing it mostly to the 650S.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyBc1GnJVlM

Around the 7 minute mark great explanation on how the 570S suspension is different: not as comfortable as the 650S as its a conventional setup, but more connected when youre trying to have fun.
Around 12:30 he sums up the car: the first McLaren that has nothing to do with lap times, they given us a car to just have fun with.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, a car thats not better per se than a 650S.....dare I say.. just different? smile
If you want one? Buy one.
If you dont want one? Dont buy one.

Im not buying one of these... im going for the 12C...yes, im a poor sob unfortunately... frown

Poor and buying a 12c shouldn't be used in the same sentence wink Its still a heck of a lot of money to spend on a car!!!
12c is still a very very capable car - and stupidly quick too!

Enough chatter...

OP, spill the beans, what colour / spec are you going for and when will it land?

Agreed, time to move on.
OP; share the specs.
I visited the McLaren deal last weekend, saw one if brown...never thought about it but it looked really good.

I don't spec until October and will do a factory visit beforehand. Current plan is luxury and security packs plus sports exhaust. Avoiding any external carbon. Biggest issue is colour. Instinct is something bright like yellow, orange or even green. But having seen a 650s in fire black, and despite convincing myself to never buy a black car, I can't help but think it would look amazing. Especially with orange calipers, orange seat belts and orange contrast stitching!

There were a few different coloured / spec ones at Millbrook last month for the dealer event. Blade silver looks lovely but will be too popular, orange looks better than the green, and the black ones all looked very dirty (it was raining..). Dark grey looks well against the grey inserts if you're not going with external carbon packs (sensible) as does the white, but there were no Volcano Yellow ones on show which would top my list.

It's going to be a long long summer for you....

I'm tempted by yellow and would love to see one in the flesh. Suspect this will be the colour we go for. Ascot have a few build slots in September (or they did). But as we're moving house thought we'd postpone to next available build slot. When we found out this was January, we opted for 1/3/17 as delivery day. Long wait but gives me time to "rationalise" my fleet. And save some cash!

There is no such thing as a bad colour on McLarens, for some reason they look good in any colour (not seen a pink one though). Perhaps this is a down to good design?

Hmm Ive seen black in a similar spec to what you just quoted and I felt it doesnt live up to the car and hid too many details, the doors particularly get lost.
I saw an Orange one today and it looks the absolute nuts tbh, sports exhaust is an absolute must - carbon pack 1 is a nice addition with full carbon interior.

Colours are so subjective on this car, I think silver or grey work well with light or red interiors.
But the bright colours really do suit it well.

Pretty much the spec I went for (minus the orange belts) and I think it looks great. I was tempted by the orange but seeing as I will use the car as often as possible I'd rather the subtle look.

I disagree that the black hides the external details, they are obviously more noticeable on a brighter colour but still stand out.

The car is epic and dare I say it, better than a 991 turbo.

Shame you have to wait so long!

Incredible. How can you say you would have one over a 650S if you have never driven a 650S.

I'm sorry but that defies ALL logic in my books and is not a valid opinion when its not an informed one.

That's like me saying I would have a 650s over a P1
But I ink the 570S is a better looking car. And looks are a big thing to me. Its also a fair bit cheaper... and I'm a Yorkshireman.

So when you getting one Jonty? I heard your 355 will be up for sale soon - will you be sad to see it go?

I'm seeing a number of 570S cars photographed abroad yet few UK cars seem to be pictured on these pages.
Why would that be?

That's a great colour combination. Have to say I'm warming to the dark grey per the car on test in this month's CAR. But can't bring myself to get yet another grey car. Subject to seeing one in the flesh, pretty certain it will be Volcano Yellow. Or Fire Black. Or Vermillion Red. Or maybe McLaren Orange. Aw s**t.
