P14 mule in Autocar
Discussion
I saw the actual P14 in person at the Winter Ball and it's an absolute stunner! In my opinion it is way better looking than 12C (I owned two of those) and 650S (I currently own one). It has a really gorgeous sculpted look to it and beautiful fine trim details that you need to see in person or proper photographs (when those become available).

Anyone buying a non carbon tubbed convertible with this sort of power is mad. Despite being stiffened I found the 488 spider to have even more scuttle shake than the 458 due to the increased power and torque. Without a carbon tub these cars are no longer a drivers car but just a hairdressers posing machine
You can buy an Aventador Roadster - CF tub - and lots of power!GRBF430F1 said:
No "wobbles" at all with the carbon tub in the McLaren period. Its rock solid and It just feels so well put together.
I detected it ever so slightly in the 458 spider when pressing on thru twisty A and B roads but I don't think its a significant factor unless you are tracking the car a lot.
That in isolation wouldn't of put me off buying one because its a cracking car just not as good as the 650S IMHO as a non biased and devoted Ferrari owner and fan

What amazes me is that you've trawled his 3000 posts to find something to try and troll with not really sure what that tells me, but a tad sad.
I reiterate my comments elsewhere, with RL's comments (certainly the inflamatory amd argumentative ones) I always detect a wry grin and/or a big smile but with the others who are quick to rise to him (you know who you are) I detect angst/frustration and a sometimes modicum of rage; it seems pretty obvious to me he's the one having the last laugh.

We all like different things and I haven't seen it but based on the pics I really like it. I think when seen in the flesh in true colours it will be fantastic.I live near and drive past McKnutsford every few days so I'm especially looking forward to seeing one in the showroom.
Looking at the roof it appears to have a door opening more akin to a gullwing....I guess to aid getting in/out if that panel hinges up with the door.

There simply is no compromise with the carbon tubbed McLaren and when you get back in another convertible without it the shake is more noticeable.
Whilst writing I would like to also now add that I drove a brand new 458 spider demo at the time which had scuttle shake albeit not massive but having recently driven a friends 3 year old 458 spider with 12,000 miles on it the scuttle shake was notably worse than I remembered so I don't know if it in fact gets worse over time as well

You don't think they've already worked out the Spider?
I know, from a very reliable source who was only at their European Conference yesterday, that they have. However I also know its at least 2 years down the line.
It looks like P14 will be like the original MP4-12C introduction where the spider follows quite a while after the coupe and not immediately.
Like I say if you want a McLaren spider in the short term ( next 2-3 years ) you will only be able to get 650S/675LT unless you already have your name down for a 570S spider which hasn't been announced yet and will probably sell out year 1 & 2 production very quickly.
Never been a better time to buy a 650S spider IMHO and NO mine is not for sale, I'm only adding to the McLaren fleet.
Only thing better than a McLaren supercar is 2 McLarens

Hard to disagree with that. These are my latest two with the MSO HS just finally arriving home yesterday...I actually have 4 however (missing from this photo are P1 and 650S Spider) which is even better than two!
Love the colour scheme (and I am not usually a fan of more than 1 colour on a car)

Thanks! I figured with the wing it looked more like a 650S GT3 so the paint scheme we chose is an homage to the 650S GT3 race car that a friend of mine races out of McLaren's Garage 59 customer racing service. The dark bits on the car are visual carbon fiber but you can't see the weave very well in photos from this distance. As with the bonnet, the doors on this one are fully carbon fiber and partially painted orange with white accents. The underside of the bonnet is completely visual carbon fiber and I was surprised how much lighter, yet still amazingly solid, it feels compared to the same bonnet on the 675LT Coupe it replaced. The doors are probably a few pounds lighter, than they were on the 675LT, but you don't notice that so much because they open with assistance from a hydraulic piston anyway. Love the colour scheme (and I am not usually a fan of more than 1 colour on a car)

I have a sneaky feeling you're going to want to add a P14 Coupe to your McLaren fleet before the Spider emerges. You'll still want to keep your 650S Spider for open-air drives but I think when you see some of the cool things on P14 you're going to want one really badly - just a hunch Only thing better than a McLaren supercar is 2 McLarens

Oh no I'm trying my best to resist and I think another McLaren would be very expensive, in the divorce courts.I'm afraid I have to be a bit selective and the most likely next candidate would be a LT in some format
