I paid £210k for my 650 which listed at £251k. A 10% premium on that for a base P14 puts the difference at £66k. You are NOT going to get a discount on a P14.
You have a spider that starts with a higher base price. 650 coupe list was just under £200k I think and i meant base price was 5-ish% higher. Also your options list was probably quite punchy wink i think the P14 like the 675 will likely come with quite a lot of cf as standard. That's just a guess btw, I might well be wrong about that! My guess is that £240k should get you a pretty decently specced P14 anyway but I'm quite minimalist with the options as well.
Yep its all conjecture for the next couple of months
I'm guessing just below the £300k

Sorry but I just don't think that is a very pretty car? Whatever the spec / power when the garage door rolls up on a Sunday I wouldn't be particularly impressed. To contrived IMO (especially the front end)...

Its been stated by those that have seen it that the top half is right and the bottom half is wrong.
Probalby because that render was done when the only spy shots where when the bottom half where concealed by a barrier.

No much concealed here and looks pretty close / spot on to the render above...

Still heavily camoed allegedley.
I agree though not a looker (so far)
I've given up my postion in the list on that basis (and no spider yet)

Anyone buying a non carbon tubbed convertible with this sort of power is mad. Despite being stiffened I found the 488 spider to have even more scuttle shake than the 458 due to the increased power and torque. Without a carbon tub these cars are no longer a drivers car but just a hairdressers posing machine
You can buy an Aventador Roadster - CF tub - and lots of power!

That's awful looking. If that's how it ends up anyway. McLaren seem to be going backwards with design, regardless of how amazing technically they are.

I accept it may change but the photo suggests the nose has a hint of 360 with 430 scoops and it then morphs into that Zagato Peugeot (RCZ ?)

I agree despite being regarded as Mclarens biggest fan.

When offered I politely declined my chance of an early car as I was not convinced by what I had seen coupled with the fact I prefer a spider anyway.

Looks too much like a Peugeot RCZ thingy for my liking whereas the 650s just hits the sweetspot to my eyes.

Not doubt it will be an epic car but that does not make it pretty. I'm sure the order books are full at full list price for the next 2 years and as such it will do the brand a huge amount of good

Can't agree there, the P14 will be less than the 675s by a reasonable amount i reckon. Will know soon enough anyway.

Having done further digging I think the base will be around £218k so I think you're not too far off.

I could be bucking the trend but if the front end rendering is accurate, I prefer it to the 570/650/675.
As a 570 owner I still haven't got to grips with the front or the back, I think the 12C was nicer looking. I really look forward to seeing the 720S

The base price will be kept as low as possible by being a basic spec so that it doesn't look like a massive hike in new model versus old model price. Standard industry practice.
I very much doubt it will come loaded with carbon fibre bits as standard and the normal sky high prices will apply for this garnish.
The average options specced on a 650S were about £27k. That got you a half decent spec car. My own car had double that on it.

£250k will get you a decent coupe and therefore £270k if there is a spider version to follow which is still STC. (The carbon monocage and doors will need a total redesign to facilitate a spider)

PS If you want a McLaren spider currently ( and who doesn't ) you can only get a 12C/650S whilst both 570S and possibly P14 spiders are still still some way off and will be sold out early doors.
I love it when a plan comes together biggrin

Not sure I like the look much either. Where as I do like the 12c, 650 & 570 Looks, they all look good to me.

Real life will tell.

Mclaren cars have always looked much better in the metal (or carbon?) than in pictures, especially renders. The P14 will I think look 'right' so to speak with supposedly a lot of very carefully sculpted details. Whether those details end up overly fussy is harder to say I guess. I'm glad they have moved away from the faux P1 'face' though.

Do you seriously believe that there is any chance in this world that McLaren won't offer a spider version of the P14?

No I don't.
Of course they will offer a spider at some stage, its a USP for them, but I was merely pointing out it does require more development time so may be further down the line eg 2 years from P14 launch ala 12C spider

You don't think they've already worked out the Spider?
