Hi all i bought Brand New Maserati Ghibli August 2016 and last few weeks i got some problem. When turning right or left weird noise coming from tyres and tyres skipping while turning.Anyway i been Maserati services for that after checked my car they told me car has no problem. Its characteristic about this car not a fault.

Can you imagine paying lot of money for this car.Everyday i hear this noise like a tyres breakup from the car and Maserati said its not fault.

Please advice me what can i do for that?

Thanks

It could be to do with the colder weather and the reaction of tyres to surface

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ackermann_steering_g...

In which case its not your car having a fault but relatively normal for most cars with wider summer tyres

So why other cars doesn't have this problem? How other brands solve this problem and Maserati couldn't?

It is likely perfectly fine and as suggested, now exaggerated by the cold weather.
Relatively common with many performance brands, large tyre sizes etc and no doubt experienced at greater steering angles/slow speeds.
I've personally experienced it on more current generation Ghibli and QP's than I could possibly ever remember, certainly a characteristic, depending on the tyre size and brand the factory fitted you may be able to improve but theres no additional wear or damage being caused as is.

Limited slip differential, grippy tire compound, and tight turns at slow-speed - all contribute to front tire squeal.

I get it on all my cars except the Yank Tanks.

Most real GT's / Sports car "crab" due to the wide tyres. I test drove an Alfa Guilia Quadriofoglio yesterday - and it was doing it too!

My wife's A5 Quattro is doing the same.

My guess was that the shoulders on the tyres are slightly worn so not gripping as much but it seems that is probably not the reason.

All cars to it, and yes wider tyre widths, lower rim profiles, and tread patterns, when combined with the road surface make a difference.

I would suggest that you don't feel it in most cars as they are sterile, you don't feel the road feedback.

Drive in an indoor car park with rubberised floor, with tight turns you here it squealing and rubbing all the time.

The great news is that there is a simple solution for this when owning a Maserati... just buy a V8 model with engine note and exhaust to match - this cancels out any irritation from tyre noise.

I would not worry about it, very common on large tyres when it is cold as others have said. Fitting winter tyres will probably stop it. Different tyres do it to greater degrees and in my experience the P Zero is bad for this.

Every single car I move in/out of the workshop in this weather does it. If you're not used to it then I agree it can be a little alarming. Sometimes is sounds/feels like the tread blocks are going to scrub off.

If you don't like then sell the car or buy some winter tyres (softer compound at lower temps).

You either learn to live with the few times it will do this each time you go for a drive or sell it and buy something with much smaller tyres and no limited slip diff.

All my cars will do this if there's enough lock on and I'm going slowly enough. Thankfully that scenario covers an inconsequential amount of the miles I do.

Life's definitely unfair when all you have to worry about is your Maserati's tyres graunching now and then. smile

...You have to decide whether or not you can tolerate something you can't control.

...Try your best to appreciate and enjoy the myriad other qualities the manufacturer has given the car. Otherwise it's like asking why waterfalls, or birds, or babies make noise. It's the unfortunate physical nature of friction.

...I give you credit for pointing out this flaw in performance cars. Yes, it would be really nice if low-speed tire noises could be engineered out, but my Alfa Romeo does it, my Maserati does it, my Aston does it... and my Aston mechanic confirms he hears it on Ferraris and Lamborghinis..

The manufacturers would engineer it out if they could...

But I understand you still find it annoying and borderline unacceptable.

If you could post a video of your problem perhaps it would show something unusual going on. But TWO Ghibli's are doing this, and the dealer says it's normal, and our collective experience says this sounds like normal tire friction.

Best wishes,

Jeez OP - you need to get some perspective.

My Audi R8 did this but, as has been posted above, as it's only at slow manoeuvring speeds it really is a very small percentage of your total driving time.

If something like this really bothers you then I'd see a doctor first. If you cannot be cured then change the car.

You poor sod. Your life really does sound dreadful. How do you cope? Clearly better than Ismael here, but it still sounds awful.

If it's any consolation, my 125k mile 13 yr old Mondeo steering feels lumpy when I back out of the drive but it's OK at speed. In addition, my MX5 has a warped rear wheel that I'll have to replace to stop a high speed vibration. That might cost me as much as £50. Life's hell, isn't it?

My first concern is before buying this car sales person didnt tell me about that.So you said all type of car doing this i can be agree with but it isnt true , porsche, bmw, mercedes and Tesla not doing same problem with same size and Tyree type car.

Best thing is sale and buy another one. From my side its unacceptable. So if everybody accept this why car factory spend to much time and money to solve this problem?

See the doctor first? What kind of people are you? I think you need to see doctor yesterday and already late for it!!!! Its not my first time drive car like this for you its not a problem but its a common fault and car manufacturing could t solve this because everyone accept this problem like a normal think!
