Rare sight indeed. Never could see the point of them myself, but it will never be of any consideration given the value of them.

Got to admire the power of Ferrari's marketing; You buy a new car for approx £2m but you can't take it home or even drive it for the first two years except when they say so, which is only a handful of times a year, and the other 350ish days you're not using it they use it themselves for development!

That said if money truly is no object the experience of being part of this programme would be very special indeed.

Think you are missing the point. These things are aimed at 'gentleman drivers / racers' who if can afford tend to operate at the busier end of the scale. Jump on chopper to Monza to be met by the car all ready warmed up and brimmed to the top. Spank it for 2 or 3 days, back on the chopper and leave it with said pit crew to pack up and prepare for the next even at Mugello.

Personally wouldn't want the logistics of physical ownership, much rather the rock star fly drive! wink

Haha! No I totally agree, you're right though I suppose do look at it from a slightly lower altitude!

12,000km is pretty admirable and much more than many road going cars with ridiculously low mileages,

I also thought that was pretty impressive considering how little some of cars in that price bracket are driven

Not true, you could take them home from day 1 if you wanted to. No one did this in the first year IIRC, only a couple of US owners did after the first year as they used it stateside more.

Just made far more sense to keep it at the factory than ferry it about to your home/dealer/track as Ferrari handled everything.

The ''you can't take it home'' thing was a rumour (Top Gear?) and everyone just went with it and took it for fact.

My comment of "can't" was slightly tongue in cheek, I don't know the exact T's & C's but there certainly is truth to it, I've visited the Cliente department in Maranello on a couple of occasions and discussed the programme in the past.

My understanding is that during the initial 2 year contract to use the car at a non Cliente event had to be requested and factory support was a stipulation, you could have the car static for say a corporate event but again arranged with the programme managers.
The cars were used for development, updates would be added/tested at each event and as such were classed as experimental or prototype and therefore perhaps even offered tax breaks for owners is certain regions.

This may have all changed for the current FXXK as a certain UK supercar dealer is already advertising one for sale but my experiences relate to when the FXX EVO and 599XX programmes were live.
