I think it's safe to see that the dealer has either a few log ins, or ala Verdi its own army of vested interest of fans who post up in his defence.

I'll leave the thread now, again as I say once bitten twice shy,
I tried to avoid making this a personal, hence avoiding any criticism of the opinion originally expressed by Drclarke, but I am very disappointed by this response.

I guess my low posting volume could be behind Drclarke's misguided view that I am in fact an alternative log in for Alistair Bols, so for the avoidance of doubt I can categorically confirm I am not Alistair Bols and I do not have any connection other than the transaction mentioned in my original post above with him.

I also note this to protect the authenticity of my future posts.

Just sometimes a business has an army of followers and supporters and advocates because they are actually very good.

There is plenty of positive feedback for him, in fact I have never seen any negative.

Very much a feature on PH of late - post up a comment attempting to tarnish a hard and well earned reputation with no thought, common sense or hard facts behind it and when challenged, throw out even more of the same frown

And you wonder why Don Trump gets the hump with fake-news.....

I have only ever had a few calls with Alastair Bols and then bought privately but you could tell straight away that he was not your average 1 dimensional car sales person.

He is good for the brand and we should be happy to have an honest dealer with integrity rather than most of the guys out there trying to earn a quick profit and forget the reputation element.

I could name a few.

just read this with interest. I bought from AB in March last year . I'm sorry to hear that the deal fell through for the poster .. great looking car but if Alastair has said he will find you another I'm pretty sure he will do everything he can to do that both for commercial reasons .. he makes a living selling cars not wasting people's time including his own plus he is a man of his word from my personal experience.Would happily trust him to sell and buy for me.

Unless the car was sold by the dealer before the gentlemen on here expressed an interest, surely he should have some form of control of his perceived stock rather than being seen as wasting people's time as he is now.

As I say, I wouldn't look to deal with anyone who acted that unprofessionally with me at that level of expenditure.
Quite right, that sort of behaviour wouldn't be tolerated at HWM.

Do they sell private cars on sale or return, for clients who might change their minds?

The other side of the story is that maybe the seller was let down also .....

I have seen a few keenly priced 650s for sale recently, if I could sell my car via Alastair to get top return on my 12c I can buy the 650, the minute the 650 i wanted is not available I would pull out of the sale of the 12c, I'm only a seller whilst the other offer is available.

That's pretty harsh tbh to compare one instance of this to being even worse than HWM.

I'm sure there was some unforeseen screwup somewhere that Bols would have done his very best to avoid. He (rightly I think) has a very good reputation amongst many of the Mclaren owners, many of whom have dealt with him from when he was at Mclaren London through to when he started as an indy.

I'd happily sell my car through AB........but, if I decided to keep the car, even right at he last minute, that would be my perogative...it might upset the buyer and AB but if a car is on SOR the seller (AB) is at the mercy of the owner.....the alternative is for people like AB to sink £100k+ into each car which isn't going to be ideal for any indy.................

You misunderstand, I'm a very, very happy customer of Alistairs.
I'm merely pointing out that the only business model I'm aware of that maintains a vice like grip on a clients car and would sell it against said clients wishes is HWM. To do likewise would be considered unprofessional IMO not the other way round.

Feel your pain. This happened to us. See Anomies thread (The other half) About to buy MK1 Superleggera thread in the Gallardo section.

Not if the seller and his agent (the dealer) have a contract. If I was the dealer, I'd want a contract.

And if I wasted somebodies time, I'd want to see them right.

There has been a lot of criticism of HWM if that refers to a company in Hendon ...

Agreed. Just like Alastair took £2k off me as a deposit, I wonder if he should take a deposit from a seller before their car gets marketed. They'd then lose that if they sold elsewhere or pulled out. Maybe that's a bit draconian??

I think Alastair likes to act with a bit more faith in both buyer and seller.....I'm sure this situation is probably few and far between.....
