Just wondered if any of you bought the registration 720 S, it sold at a recent DVLA auction and would look great on the car, it would finish it off perfectly and certainly draw your attention away from the eye sockets!
Had a look around and it doesn't seem to be for sale online, saw 72 S on one of the registration transfer sites which would also look tremendous, I didn't realise these short plates were worth quite so much now, although I suppose it's an investment as they can't exactly make any more!
The owner of 720 S could probably get £100k+ for it now.Had a look around and it doesn't seem to be for sale online, saw 72 S on one of the registration transfer sites which would also look tremendous, I didn't realise these short plates were worth quite so much now, although I suppose it's an investment as they can't exactly make any more!
Problem is, private plates can take years to sell. Know someone who had a 3-digit plate on 3 sites for 4 years before it sold. It's a very illiquid market at times.

I'm trying to find the video, without much joy. Perhaps my recollection is faulty - it's certainly not unknown.
I was impressed at the company owner wanting to stand in a massively crowded paddock wiping the car down, you certainly don't see that very often!
Just had a chat with a mate I was with on the day - what I had forgotten was the lovely Italian brunette he passed me over to who did speak lovely English. Perhaps he was merely doing me a favour...
What did he think of your car Flemke?
Because of the language barrier, he didn't have much to say - but he was smiling. I was impressed at the company owner wanting to stand in a massively crowded paddock wiping the car down, you certainly don't see that very often!

Not quite the end of the scale though, Pagani were arsehats, and we were invited!
That doesn't surprise me.FoS when the Huyara was released, and HP was wiping the car down with some quick detailer.
I figured that this gave the impression that he was feeling quite sociable, and asked him a few questions about the car, only for him to 'no eenglishh'.
Then a week later I saw an interview with Hurry Metcalfe where his English was impeccable...
I agree with the poster above, it's great to see the family so passionate and involved. On our visit after lunch we were brought out some delicious Italian ice cream on a tray by a lady who walked about offering them around; that turned out to be Mrs P So the only people attending to us all during the visit was the family. A lovely touch!

I have seen the car. This is an honest, unbiased opinion.
Those who have said that this car seems like it belongs in a segment above its price tag, and the likes of the 488 and Huraccan are correct. It actually looks like a £300k plus car - easy!.
Some of the detail are amazing, the cabin seems space age, from the front wheel and all the way back, this car looks sensational. There is so many things to point out, but the canopy, doors, rear wing and rear lights stand out.
Be under no illusion, if you park a 488 or Huraccan next to this, no one will believe that they are from the same decade, nevermind the same year. Total overkill!
The things i dont like:
Well thats the whole front end - not just the light sockets but the whole treatment of the front. It just lacks aggression, and somehow it looks too high (too tall). It just spoils the rest of the car in my opinion. Also in side profile, it seems not to match the angle of the windscreen (which again seems too tall).
Someone can confirm this, but the car seems bulkier and the canopy seems taller than the 650/12C. It doesn't look as delicate or pointy as the 650/12c.
OVERALL. Value for money, this will destroy 488 or Huraccan. The looks are subjective, some will like it more than others, but there is a lot here to admire. Just wish they resolved the front a bit better.
Last point, i saw a photo of an orange 720s parked next to a yellow 12C Spider, and i must say the 12C looked such a smaller car.
Couldn't agree more. Simply the star of the show for me and incredibly excited about this carI have seen the car. This is an honest, unbiased opinion.

I can't wait to see what you're going to do with your 720 MSO wise, or whether the LT version is when you will go all out?For me it was the pick of geneva... although GT3 and 812 also important cars. (assume Ruf does something for you too?)

Well, I did some more thinking and still couldn't find any memory of being aware the colour green was "unlucky" in the UK. I would have expected that if it was such an issue as to significantly prevent sales I might have heard of it by now - what with me becoming alarmingly old these days. Isn't it's relatively low popularity more likely simply to be a matter of fashion and availability. Few cars are offered in green even as an optional extra. Presumably manufacturers have convinced themselves the extra effort isn't worth it and so we're plagued with variations of grey and black with white being a frequently ticked box in mainstream cars (I suspect muchly because it is offered for free). At the exotic end the market is, naturally, a little more nuanced but there are still plenty of UK registered green coloured Astons, Bentleys and Jaguars on the roads.
I quite like a nice dark green, me.
Green has been considered unlucky in the UK, but mostly wrt clothing (and wallpaper and soft furnishings) due to arsenic being used in the dying process. Scheele's Green (copper arsenite) was even used as a food dye so understandably people became suspicious of green sweets too. However, I think the association of bad luck with green cars in racing comes from America due to a number of unfortunate incidents early on http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/how-the-color-green-...I quite like a nice dark green, me.
As for the superstition affecting cars sales, I agree that the colour's current unpopularity is probably more to do with fashion. Personally it wouldn't put me off a car and I would make my decision based on how much the colour suited the car - as you say, cars from old British marques seem right in BRG and I can't see anyone turning down a lime green Miura because they're afraid it would be unlucky!

I do get the feeling its too fast (PH card handed in) for the Road.
Immense but if anyone scrapes 50% of its ability on a daily basis I'm amazed.
Well, cars have been too fast for the road for ages. Even the new gt3 with 500hp is way too quick for the road and you'd never be able to use 50% of it's ability on a daily basis. The bigger issue is how the car feels to drive at vaguely road legal speeds...Immense but if anyone scrapes 50% of its ability on a daily basis I'm amazed.

I would love see a 720s in the same green as this P1, I think it would be wonderful By the way the video is very cool

Nice video, thanks for the link, although why does he need to adjust the seat, surely they're not that hard to enter?https://latest.mclaren.com/posts/mr-p1-japan
As for the colour, it's certainly striking, but I don't think I'd get that past MOH. It's funny though, when we were at Geneva, Billy (chap from McLaren) kept apologising for the bug in the configurator that made our launch car look dark green instead of black, but I kind of liked it and it made me consider other colour options for the second car. I wasn't quite so keen when the bug made the roof look sage green though.

I'm sorry, I don't understand?
Neither do I - I remember someone asking me at a show "wasn't I scared to drive the Noble?" (which has 500bhp/tonne) and was surprised that I replied that I wasn't. I explained that it was only cars that are unpredictable that concerned me, regardless of their power, and that I didn't have to press the accelerator if I didn't want to. I'm sorry, I don't understand?
