I think the 12C is a far more resolved design than the 458

And there in your own quote is the futility of this discussion. You have defined masters of design by "how pretty" your chosen car looks. What if I don't want a pretty looking car? Is pretty better?

Ironically that's exactly why I have never been drawn to any of the V8 Ferraris - they appear feminine to me. I certainly appreciate them but I prefer the aggressive, and IMO more masculine design of a Lambo. Similarly I find McLaren to be less feminine or pretty and therefore I prefer them. But it is a preference, and not a definition of "masters of design".

The fact there are avid buyers of all three "breeds" should tell you that one is not better than the other. It's just a preference. This fanboy stuff reminds me xbox/playstation flame wars. It's just pointless and juvenile.

There are undisguised images of the car on this thread
There are pretty darn accurate renderings
and even with the camo shots you have a silhouette
and with the video you have scale and 3d object in motion

Each one on their own might be a little useless
Combined however, most educated reasonable enthusiasts can make a judgement imo.

That is still no replacement for seeing one up close and personal of course, but the discussion and opinions thus far are more than valid, because that's all it is...opinion and discussion.

I have to say I can see the quality in all Mclaren's designs, but other than the F1, I've not seen anything I 'like'. Plenty of drama and aero-techy progress, nothing of real beauty (to me) or overt aggression....they're neither female enough or male enough, more a transgender look. The centre ground.
Too much mass, width, length at the rear with pronounced cab forward, like Pagani, don't 'like' that stuff for the same reason.... respect it, will watch it drive by, don't 'want' it.....

Nothing wrong with a bit subjective chat though thumbup

I'm sure this car will be stunning in every area and sell well etc but........isn't the model people really want the LT / GT special / ultralight weight edition etc that will inevitably come !!

Last pretty Ferrari was the F355. Ever since then they went down hill but at least the 488 is an improvement on the 458 IMHO.
Have always preferred their 2nd gen cars hence never getting a 458 despite it being a big step up from my old F430 F1 spider

Agreed about the 355
Although for me the FF and F12 have both been modern and glamorous enough to 'want'...

Generally speaking car designers don't go out of their way to release products that they think The majority of potential buyers will dislike!

What a totally bizarre thread. People arguing over pictures of a car that has been deliberately disguised.

Have a day off

Do your Ferrari Bosses know you post all this rubbish?
I can't believe they would approve of such childish nonsense.

I just cannot get excited about McLaren body design. I so want to like the way they look as I know how good they are but they just don't evoke any emotion.

I'm undecided but we are looking at a design that is deliberately disguised here, the coloured renderings do look much nicer.

Out of interest what current cars do float your boat, your Gallardo looks great but I was in a showroom earlier today with 4 Huracans and just felt they were underwhelming. They had a 458 in which looked muted in white, and just felt none had the visual drama of a 570s.
