Just curious - "3s a lap quicker than a Porsche 918" on what track?
Castelloli I'm given to believe. Or at least that's the circuit that I seem to be hearing an ever increasing number of seconds the P14 is supposedly faster than the 675 and/or 918 from different people... as far as the lap times claimed I'll settle for A) as per the post above - struggle to believe.

I agree, I've driven that circuit and been in a 918 on multiple occasions. Quite where you'd find 3 seconds on a lap I'll never know. But if it's true and I don't know why they'd allow it come out if not after all it'll shortly be relatively easy to verify, then it's quite the car.

I'd say the 3 sec claim to be spurious when considered against all the fanning around with the P1 (flagship of MegaMclaren land recall ?) nailing the Nordschleife / spanking the 918. Yet never was a number, lap time, or anything produced.
P1 battery discharged long before the lap was completed, not so in the 918.

Given the Huracan Performante is going to officially dip below the 918 Nordschleife time any day now it's reasonable to assume the McLaren is going to be on a par (if not better).

Fair enough - but why all the 'Fake News' at the time about the P1 ?
No idea, don't think anyone expected the 918 to go Sub 7min. Everyone else on the back foot after that. No discussion about it though the 720S is faster than P1.

I remember people saying the P1 would be quicker if it didn't have the batteries. That's what the 720S is, with less down force.

" And then the P1 opened itself up as the most extraordinary road car I've driven. Fast as hell, accurate and razor sharp if you wanted but willing to accommodate small slip angles on the exit of every turn; vast smoky slides if you so wished."

"But we need to end with some choice hyperbole, right? That's the way this stuff works, isn't it? Okay, here goes. The P1 is the bestest, fastest, most exciting car sports/super/hypercar I've driven. Nothing else comes close."

and some repetitive stuff about 'It's a whole new thing' or something I couldn't google in under 4 seconds.

Three years ago - when surely the 720S was being pencilled.
The power, torque and down force may well make the P1 the most exciting car ever. But the battery weight probably doesn't make it the fastest. We'll know for sure as the output from the ICE is about the same for the P1 and 720S.

You would think the ppl going to these events would have a better camera if they plan to secretly take pics and you think they would get better pics

Don't mind the side or that rear view if the exhaust tips come out straight and don't dip downwards but the front still looks absolutely awful in those pics

It's growing on me, but I really, really want big air intakes behind the doors on a supercar, and having just body skin there is what throws the impression to the negative.

Interesting how the bowed roof flowing down to a rounded lower rear window borrows directly from the 570GT.

I'm guessing from that pic as well the rear opens up as a spoiler like the p1 as they've teased spoiler pics and it looks on the orange car like there's a full length panel/spoiler possibly!

To say ppl have now seen this car they're keeping very tight lipped on any details

For those that were there, how big is the door section that now cuts into the roof? Just wondering how much this changes ingress/egress for the car....

You can see from the new carbon tub that there's only a small central spur, so i'm guessing the door cuts in almost all the way to that part.

Was there at launch yesterday; this thing is going to cause waves. If on the fence, get your order in. Once revealed formally at Geneva, order books will explode. This isn't just empty predictable buzz, genuinely a leap forward in my honest opinion.
The thing is seriously impressive in every respect.

Ignore also that new potato cam footage - nothing I've seen online does it justice in the metal.

New doors btw in reply to the above are narrower & the way they open means egress is far easier. Visibility is superb also inside. Cabin is top notch.
